Same process for semi final confirmed

Well according to some blues in the other thread it seems that our European away game following is made up of dicks, scrotes, Coke heads and thugs who would rather rip up seats and piss on the home fans below.
Personally I've seen very little trouble over the years except last year in Barcelona, and that was a small number.
I'll have you know I've not been away in Europe for two years.

Good to hear. it's an excellent idea an meant hundreds if not into the thousands got to go to Paris that would otherwise of missed out because of the point whores. Not wanting to sound like a dick but If your name isn't on your ticket for whatever reason then it's your own fault. The vast majority of people that fall under that category have more than likely benefited in some way to using a ticket in anothers name anyway. and the ones that haven't are an incredibly small minority. A small price to pay to allow hundreds and thousands of others to get to games. Well done City.

agreed. it will take a while but eventually the people that have missed out for years will qualify in their own right. great news.

I have 10,500 points and always fall sort for bigger matches, including CL away games. I went to Barcelona and Seville, getting tickets through friends both times. I'd like to take my (adult) son - he has 4,500 points as he's not had his season ticket that long - to the semi but with this system there's an outside chance of me getting a ticket but no chance of us both getting to the match :-(

That is unfortunate for you and your son. You both have my sympathies but those are the rules and it is only fair. You have had an advantage in the past through points whores and that was unfair. Now someone who has missed out previously will get a chance.

Maybe these people who have 'missed out for years' could have gone to more games and would have more points? Loads of away games go down pretty low in the points stakes. Really hate this assumption that people with a decent amount of points must have been 'points whoring ' rather than just building up points like yourself.

Do you really think they are doing it to prevent these nasty mythical points whores? If they cared who had the tickets they wouldn't give so many to corporates and day trippers would they, and be so casual with distribution to supporters clubs.
Maybe a minor admin mistake years ago was our 'own fault' but the fact you seem to be revelling in the fact that people like me will miss out does make you sound a bit of a dick tbf.

Points pimps are the worst though ie supporters clubs pimping out points whores who got their due in Paris, as their allocations were minuscule... Soon will be gone the days of them applying for tickets using the numbers of high point members who have no intention of attending the game.

Although having been in Paris I was amazed how few people I recognised from away games, there were groups of people in the lower tier that had obviously got theirs from corporate sources, and I've already posted on here about the French natives picking up tickets at the Montparnasse hotel. And will also add I thought it the atmosphere in our end was relatively poor for an away game, so I am not sure it is the answer really.

I noticed there was a temporary ticket collection booth for the Paris fans located between where the etihad campus bridge is and where the coaches park.

Sounds to me it's not just us who have to go through this process. But moving forward it would be better to have this facility at away grounds in Europe whereby fans don't need to mess about traveling around a particular city to collect a ticket, and just turn up outside the ground an hour before kick off to collect their ticket from one of these collection points/booths, showing a passport that corresponds with the name reserved on the ticket.

There's always going to be collateral damage with any change to the system but this can only be seen as a positive step forward. Logistically it's impossible to have a similar process for domestic games but i hope City can come up with a different method of achieving similar results for domestic games

You need only look at the PSG game to see the point whores are far from mythical. I agree corporate tickets and supporters clubs are still an issue but they don't suddenly mean point whores aren't a problem and again judging from the PSG game it would seem the point whoring is a bigger issue at present.

The majority using cards in another persons name do so because it offered some additional benefit over having a seasoncard in their own name, the primary reason being having a card with loyalty points on it already, enabling them to jump ahead of others, not all do this, some share cards due to cost etc and i have sympathy for them but that's the price you pay for bending the rules and they must of known at some point down the line not having their name on the card they use would hinder them in some way.

I'm not revelling in any City fan not being able to go to a game. i'm simply pleased that thousands of others will get to go to games they should qualify for but have missed out on over the years because of these mythical point whores.

You've mentioned in another post how the fans who have missed out for certain games could of built up there points at the likes of Sunderland away midweek etc. This is an often used argument on here that simply doesn't have any legs when you actually think about it. Aside from the obvious issue of not knowing what games the fans just missing out have attended and the high probability that they have infact attended all of the less popular games as in all likelihood they're the only games they can get tickets for, the main problem with that arguement is those games are not frequent enough for anybody to catch up enough to be able to get tickets to the more popular games. For every Sunderland away that goes to open sale, they've missed out on 5/6+ games that have sold out before reaching their criteria, therefore leaving them a further 200 points behind the people they are trying to catch.

Believe me this is intended to halt point whoring. I think it was said that around 600 fans that "attended" Seville didn't apply for kiev and Paris, odd don't you think.?
You do see a vast number of the same fans at away games,my wife and I were having a beer in Bournemouth and half the people in there were in Paris but to say whoring is not a problem is just plain silly. There wee Chelsea tickets first sake on Facebook TWO hours after going on sale. That can't be right.

Not odd at all, short notice prevented us going to Kiev and illness prevented us attending Paris. People have tight budgets and can only afford a couple of European trips away so may well have chosen group stage games instead of the knockout stages. I'll be at the semi final home and away but depending on whether we are home or away first the wife may miss the away leg due to being unable to get the time off work, that may mean she went to Seville but not to Kiev, Paris or the semi final away, odd?, no just circumstances.

I like the mythical 'thousands' can now attend away games.

Usual faces at the usual places.

There are tickets available now for Chelsea and toon. Why is that?

Don't kid yourselves. City have a hardcore 1500 I say for most away games. The rest pick and choose. Always has been tickets available in reality

You make a very good point about Chelsea and Newcastle. If the club stop the whores the moaners about loyalty points have to snap these up really.
