Sami Nasri

I do think that Nasri needs time to settle in as some say, although the big difference i can see on him from previous seasons is that he seems to be quite a bit heavier. Not fat but more muscular. This is not necessarily good.

Clichy is class, no doubt, and he's been performing at Arsenal for some seasons. If I remember correctly enough, he was the best LB in the Premier two seasons ago.

That's not the case of Nasri, not at all. The ''he should play centrally'' is just the biggest excuse I have heard about him and that for years. Last time he played good at that position was at Marseille, and he clearly doesn't have the skill to play there.

People considering him as one of the most gifted players in Europe (for what? Passes: not good enough. Speed? Decent. Dribbles? Typical Ronaldo case: takes too much time and needs space. Finishing? Well, his best quality, but not quiet exceptional) really will be disappointed, let alone being at the class of Silva. May be good on the wing, but that's not at all what City needed. We needed a creative midfielder who could replace Silva to rest him, or even a JaviMartinez-like player to play more defensively in the absence of Silva.

I'm not saying Nasri won't come out good, he may be decent as a winger. Maybe. Never the 20m Silva Wannabe we were sold. Just stop making excuses like ''he would be good midfielder'', no, he won't. Nor does he need time to adapt, he comes from Arsenal and City plays a similar game to them this season.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. The 6 Nasri months were the form of his carrier, on the wing because that's where he belongs. Class is Silva, Fabregas, Ozil and Sneijder performing for years and yet sold for a similar price than that crap.

About his attitude, just search the Henry and Gallas episodes. Or when he insults fans on Twitter.

we're not even half way through his first season at City, stop flapping, he'll come good.

How is his role different ENOUGH to the one he had at Arsenal to make him inept at beating a man, or even trying. That's just one of the things that disappoint me about him among many...

For a start he played more centrally last season at Arsenal and seemed to have more creative freedom, every time he's played this season he's either been on the right or left and stayed out there for the entire time he's been on the pitch, baring his assist against Wigan in September.

Right we need to put this myth to bed right now. Nasri being better in the middle, Nasri was great for Arsenal in the middle, anything in fact involving Nasri, Arsenal, and the middle.

Cesc Fabregas was Arsenals middle. Fabregas is the reason Nasri played at Arsenal on the wing, because he wasn't good enough to oust Fabregas from the middle (he wasn't really good enough for the wing either but we'll ignore that for now). What happened when Arsenal didn't field Fabregas and Nasri played in the middle? They were, on the whole, shite. Nasri filling the hole left by Fabregas when he didn't play is akin to the one he was supposed to be able to fill when Silva doesn't play, more creative backup for the middle so we don't have to fully rely on one player. He couldn't do it then, I've huge huge doubts he'll be able to do it now. If he couldn't show it consistently in his Arsenal career playing second fiddle to Fabregas how on earth is he going to show it here playing second fiddle to Silva?

It's all very well and good saying "play him in the middle we'll see what he can do", but he's never going to be needed there as long as Silva is fine to play. So he better make himself useful elsewhere or he won't be seeing a huge amount of game time.

we missed his work-rate (!) or at least his body in the midfield when we took him off for Balotelli yesterday. I understand what Mancini tried to do, but the only time Mario helped out was when he took down Johnson for a yellow card.

the most frustrating thing with Nasri is he doesn't try enough killer passes, most are of the 5-10 yard variety. Against Spurs he crossed for Dzeko (and for Balo against Blackburn) and put Aguero in space for our 4th. He isn't doing that enough; he tried it once yesterday with a lob pass over the top that Aguero (I think) almost got to. He needs to do it more often.

dont know what nasri brings to the team , he is neat and tidy on the ball , but creates nothing , just like arsenal then.
13 assists in 3 seasons

13 assists in 3 seasons , or if he played 40 games a season , that works out at one assist in every 10 games or so , hardly impressive stats. But if he puts a blue shirt on and gives 100% , he will get my support , i just think he needs to toughen up a bit ,and play like his life depends on it, we dont want to play pretty pointless tippy tappy football that wins fuck all , like those southern jessies , arsenal.

I dont hate the guy, but its very frustrating to hear even pundits talk about him as this creative player. he really is not. He's a link player with world class ball control. If you have a creative genius like Silva or Fabregas, you can get away with it because he will be a nice foil for them by keeping the ball for the team when they are not on it and link up well with them.

Give Nasri the creative role, he will fail as he lacks the vision and passing range the likes of Silva and Fabregas has. he's way way behind them in this aspect of the game

assists are a misleading statistic; it's often the pass before the assist that opens the defence up. Silva had just 9 assists last season (he has 8 already) and he created everything for us, especially after the New Year.

A rarely-healthy RVP aside, he never played with a striker worth half a shit in his Arsenal career, either.

And for a few of the Gooners happy that apparently he is now a 'bit part player' with us, he's played in all but two of our competitive fixtures, playing for the first place side, and has more of these assists than anyone on Arsenal. Oh, and he got a nice pay rise. It's good to be Samir Nasri right now.

I don't think Nasri and Silva in the same side really works unless it's against weak teams like Wigan, I know it worked vs Spurs but they bizarrely played without one even remotely defensive midfielder. Against Bayen Munich and Liverpool we were simply out muscled up front after bright starts. I'd like to see him play in the Silva position of last season as the one in the front three with the most freedom to roam, he might not have as much sustained influence on games as Silva but he'd score a lot more and would get his fair share of assists as long as he took a few more risks with his passing.
