Sami Nasri

I don't think Nasri and Silva in the same side really works unless it's against weak teams like Wigan, I know it worked vs Spurs but they bizarrely played without one even remotely defensive midfielder. Against Bayen Munich and Liverpool we were simply out muscled up front after bright starts. I'd like to see him play in the Silva position of last season as the one in the front three with the most freedom to roam, he might not have as much sustained influence on games as Silva but he'd score a lot more and would get his fair share of assists as long as he took a few more risks with his passing.

This^^^
good post that sums up my feelings so far

I think Nasri's problem is that he always pick the easy pass instead of taking more responsibility like Silva.

He is thinking more of not losing the ball rather than thinking of how he can create a chance or score.

Well, I think most of the people here haven't seen Nasri's games with Arsenal or France National Team, except through youtube compilations. No wonder he is so overrated around here.

First of all, let me be clear to you. Nasri can't play as a CAM, even if his life depended on it. Yea, I know, he always says he would rather play there, but that's just an excuse for his irregularity. Each time he has played there, and he has a lot, especially with France and in his beginning at Arsenal, he was really bad. He doesn't have much passing skill and, as far as dribbles are concerned, he just takes at least 10 touches before beginning his dribble. You just can't do that as a CAM, no way he can be near David Silva.

Wenger is a really good coach about recognizing players skills, and he knew perfectly well that Nasri can't play as a CAM. As a proof, he only has 3 assists at Arsenal, and even his City ones are not through balls.

Now, let's head towards his game as a winger. You must know that he has been really bad there for most of his Arsenal journey. Even last season, he has been sh*t in 2011. And before that, he was also sh*t. Only the 6 first months of last season were good, but so were chamakh's one, it doesn't prove anything.

He also has had many behaviour issues and he looks to me as the most bad behaved player of our team, after maybe Balotelli. Even more than Tevez, and that's to say something.

I have always had this opinion about him, even before he signed at City. And objective Arsenal fans also had that one. Now, most of them do, thinking that Fabregas was the only main loss of theirs, while Nasri has been replaced.

Really, there is no way that player could have cost 20m£ with one year contract remaining, that's his actual price with a long contract.

Shouldnt you have been advising Mancini & Ferguson who obviously both had the wrong opinion about him?

Wouldn't get in my starting 11 for the big games at the minute, massively under performing.

This is the same criticism Arsenal fans had of him.

Like Milner he debuted well but has since faded a bit. But I'm not in the least worried, he has all the tools. Of all the signings we've made, maybe other than Aguero, I've felt he is most certain to succeed here. Even Aguero has faded a bit as of late.

Absolute bollocks, Milner and Lescott alone are prove that opinion is wrong. He's in a different role to the one he was in at Arsenal and is adjusting to a new club and new team mates, people need to have some patience because Samir Nasri is one of the most technically gifted players in Europe.

Give him 12 months and he'll be at a similar level to Silva mark my words, he showed glimpses of what he can do when he's at his best against Tottenham in August.

De Jong lasted only 2 weeks as Bluemoon's new boo boy, enjoy your new mantle Samir!

History will repeat itself over and over, a player must be perfect as soon as he signs or he's wank (Milner, Lescott, NDJ, Dzeko, etc. etc.), sell him and buy that new kid whose worth 40 million.

How is his role different ENOUGH to the one he had at Arsenal to make him inept at beating a man, or even trying. That's just one of the things that disappoint me about him among many...

For a start he played more centrally last season at Arsenal and seemed to have more creative freedom, every time he's played this season he's either been on the right or left and stayed out there for the entire time he's been on the pitch, baring his assist against Wigan in September.
no he played on the wings for Arsenal last season most times. His best performances came from the right wing. he only played in the middle whenever Cesc wasnt playing. He has never played in the middle when Cesc was fit and Wenger straight up said that he played him there cause Ramsey was injured and he sees Nasri as half winger half midfielder, hence why he never gave him full trust in the middle.

Watch him carefully and you will realise he lacks vision. world class ball control, but he wont make many defence opening passes

Nasri was played in an attacking three behind either Chamakh or van Persie last season, although he was played on the right of the three he was often given a free role and license to roam, very similar to the role Silva has in our system. Fabregas stayed in the centre dictating play and Nasri would often interchange with Arshavin or Walcott.

Once he settles in and finds some form I'm sure Roberto will give him a bit more creative license and we'll see his Arsenal form of 2009/10/11, he will also start to link up with Silva on the edge of the box as he did with Fabregas, making short sharp runs and running at defenders at pace in tight area's causing havoc.

He's a fantastic footballer and we're lucky to have him, people need to chill, have a bit more patience and give the lad some time. I've also read his attitude is poor? this is based on what exactly?, Euro 2008 I assume. In his whole time at Arsenal and Marseille I can't recall him ever being a bad apple, he's also always been prepared to play in multiple positions for his managers.
