Sane left out of Germany World Cup Squad

We know that now. That was not evident to me before he was dropped. I hadn't realised he was struggling in the German squad.

This must be a rational decision by the coach which is a little bit worrying as it suggests Sane has some weakness.

No it doesn't. It suggests he has some weaknesses in a lesser squad with a lesser manager playing in a different style and system. There's about 18 of that 23 that would get nowhere near our side.

Brandt, Kimmich, Neuer, Gundogan & Kroos for me would make our squad. Muller a few years ago.

Shame for Sane but good for us, I think. A rested Sane with a point to prove can only be a good thing. I am sure Pep has sent him a text and told him to enjoy his holidays and come back firing for City.

Actually you have to come from Swabia to get called up for the German squad. Having played before for Stuttgart, Freiburg or Hoffenheim helps - that are the home matches of Löw where he often watches on the weekend.

But yes, it helps to play for Bayern as they are the spine of the team and play with each other every week. But Hummels, Boateng, Neuer, Rudy and Süle all have been internationals before they came to Bayern. Kimmich has a very good DFB-career before coming to Bayern and played U19, U21 etc. with success before his breakthrough in the national team. And the right fullback spot was their to grab after Lahm left - same with Müller who came in 2010 who only played 90 minutes before he started his first World Cup.

Leroy is fantastic but still has plenty to learn. That said I think Low has made a mistake and this tournament could ruin his managerial legacy. This German team is short of pace and will struggle against bus-parking sides without more speed on the flanks.

This team plays against bus-parking teams in about every match. Spain does not have the speed either.

Ok let's wait and see. You may be proved correct but I have a gut feeling this may be one tournament too many for Low. I don't think Spain will find it easy either but they have more magicians in midfield (like Silva) who can unlock defences than Germany.
