Santi Cazorla

Whether Carzola is better than Nasri or not is completely irrelevant, and most of you are missing the most obvious flaw. We can't sell a player we've had for one season every time a *slightly* better player comes on the market. You shouldn't do it with anyone.

Carzola is a fantastic player, I've no doubt he'll be brilliant for Arsenal. Good enough to warrant shifting one of our own to bring him in? No. We can't buy every single above average player that comes on the market, people have to accept that some will end up at rival clubs (which doesn't suddenly make them shit either).

The most obvious flaw is that we have a manager who chooses the players (thank God) & it's upto him whether he thinks we need Carzola.

If he does, we will sign him. If he doesn't, perhaps we'll just have to make do with the players he signed, who won the league, instead.
It shouldnt be up to him. Im all for giving a manager alot of freedom, but a manager should never make all the decision at a club. if for whatever reason mancini comes and say I dont want nasri, get me Cazorla(not that he would) But moments like that a club has to say no way. We spend 25 million on a young talented player who you wanted. its your job to get the most out of him.

I would argue that the view of the club supersede the view of the manager. Mancini doesn't sign everyone he wants after all. Even if he would want Carzola for Nasri the board would never (at a guess, could be wrong!) permit it. We can't just chop and change every summer for minor upgrades.

i'm absolutely fucking astounded we are letting the likes of arsenal take sahin and cazorla. 2 players who would fit perfectly into our team. cant quite believe thats august and we havent bought anyone yet

We aren't going to take Sahin on a loan deal, and he isn't good enough to get playing time at Real Madrid so I question how much he'd get with us. And Cazorla is just an inferior version of Nasri that scores marginally more frequently (but against inferior competition). Relax, we'll get some good players, but these two aren't for us.
This is such a silly argument. There are players for City who will not get playing time if they were at Real Madrid, and there are Real Madrid players who will not get much playing time at City. That is simply a function of lots of things. The coach, competition at the position, e.t.c.

Personally , I think Sahin was an amazing player at Dortmund, a proper passing orchestrator from deep (a quality we lack), and was deemed the best player in the Bundeliga in the first half of his last season, before he got injured. And why aren't we taking Sahin on a loan deal? That for me is even more perfect. If it doesn't workout, we can send him back. If it does, we can then pay big money to get him here permanently. This is what Italian teams do often. Why we don't in particular, and English teams in general don't do this, boggles the mind.

Sahin would bench barry in no time and Real madrid fans are going crazy about the situation. they feel Mourinho has never given him a chance. Also as great as Mourinho is he's still a human being and capable of mistakes.

Hell even the great mark hughes made one by playing evans ahead of sturridge

It's incredible how underrated is Cazorla among english fans. He was the main STAR and the "franchise player" at Villareal and Malaga(champions league teams). 47 caps for Spain.

Now think about the best player in teams like Arsenal or Liverpool. That was his role in their last teams.
People in England will discover a player that they didn't know and then they will say "oh, he has improved a lot this year".
Malaga? if he's that good why is he not at Real or Barca?
He's 27 and has never played in a big club
Anyway Silva and Nasri is younger than him and at 27 he's already an old guy
If he was that good more clubs would come in for him.

Really? I can't see the point of this.
But if you are interested, 4 years ago Cazorla said "NO" to Real Madrid. He was caught talking to Iker Casillas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfWOk-poiuU

Well, I live in Spain and people(specially Madrid fans) are not crazy about that situation, trust me.
People are crazy about the Santi Cazorla transfer to Arsenal and the 15-20 millions they are going to paid but nobody gives a fuck about Sahin.
The Cazorla to Arsenal is by far the most popular notice in marca.com (more than 1.500 comments) and most of then are Madrid fans with comments like those:
"only 15-20 millions, what a steal", "the new Silva(another player that Madrid could had signed but Mou didn't want)", "20 Cazorla, 40 Modric, world gone mad", "Coentrao 30, Cazorla 20, this is madness"...

Sahin has been injured half of the seasonand the other half he has been off form.
People think that he can be a good player but nobody expect him to become with Mou nothing more than Xabi Alonso substitute and play a few matches.
Mourinho doesn't like the duo Xabi Alonso-Sahin on the pitch at the same time, he thinks that Sahin doesn't has enough defensive skills.
People can understand what happen with Sahin and it's not the main discussion.

Yeah I read Spanish papers and I have noticed how many Real madrid fans that prefers Cazorla to modric. Most of them think they are getting ripped of with modric

Is the perfect example of football fan who hasnt heard of a footballer, look up his age, his stats and the clubs he has played for and is ready to argue with anyone of how good he is, despite never seen him play. Its just amazing how he's so convincing in his argument despite not knowing the player. its the mentality of if he was any good I would have heard of him.

Anyway here's my vie on him
He is better than nasri and imo quite a bit better. i dont care iof nasri is couple of years younger, he will never has the vision and feel for the game cazorla has. There isnt one aspect of football i can think of Nasri being better. Nasris two strongest aspect is his ability of keeping possession and how two footed he is.

Well Cazorla is better at keeping possession. And as far as being two footed goes, I honestly do not know any player thats more two footed than Cazorla. the guy take freekicks with both feet. How many players are comfortable at taking freekicks with both feet depend on the angle?

As far as Silva goes, they are quite bit different. i would say Silva is more of a final third player while Cazorla is better playmaker(I expect people to jump on me for saying he's better playmaker than Silva)

Put it this way when Xavi is not playing for Spain Del Boque dont look at Silva or fabregas for that position. He plays Cazorla. he's better than Silva at controlling the game and has more passing range.

As far as people thinking Im bigging him up or call me a gooner lol. We should keep this thread alive and see how well he does. i would bet anything people in here will rate him higher than nasri, mata and hazard by the end of the season.

Fuck off, I've seen him play, but only a few times over the course of several years and I compared him to Nasri because I felt they played at a very similar position on the pitch and occupied a similar area. And my point was that he was good just not good enough for City. I may not see him play near as much as someone who watches La Liga regularly, but that doesn't mean I'm an ignorant fuck who can't tell his ass from a hole in the ground.
