The judge explained the case didn't reach the threshold for a whole life sentence as it wasn't sadistically or sexually motivated and a minimum of 30 years tariff was applicable.

However due to aggravating circumstances and the severity of the sustained beatings Sara took from her father was given a minimum of 40 years and her stepmother 33 years

Really upsetting hearing what they did to her. Fucking monsters and both will almost certainly die in prison

They weren't sexually motivated but it was deemed she got pleasure murdering those poor babies and had a so called "god" complex so that can be classed as sadistically motivated. It was also pre-meditated murder.

I fully understand that and listened to the judges summation. He clearly thought his hands were tied with respect to a whole life order. The question I have is how were these atrocious actions not classed as sadistic?

That summation was a very hard listen, my heart goes out to the police and ambulance service and other people who have to deal with these sorts of cases. Massive respect to them for carrying out such a professional job in these circumstances. It must leave some with mental health scars if thats the right words?

Assuming you have listened to horrendous catalogue of torture and injuries he inflicted on his own daughter, what more do you think he would have have had to do for the crime to have been characterised by the judge as sadistically motivated? There isn't anything surely?

Good points, but it's a very fine line isn't it. That said I suspect he will die in jail.
