Is it depressing that this kind of case doesn't even greatly surprise me? And you know what will be spouted at the end of the case, by Social Services, government ministers and the police?

"We must take steps to ensure this cannot happen again". Fast forward two or three years, and guess what? Rinse and repeat.

Sleep easily Sara; you're free of the scum who were supposed to take care of you.

Lessons must be learnt, inquiry etc... a fucking joke. Too upsetting to even contemplate what that little girl went through.

Anyway we aren't allowed to wish bad things on people, not in a modern society I'm led to believe.

Oh really?

String him up by his balls! Is that a bad thing? If not, I can think of worse for this pathetic monster…and his wife and brother!

My god I was almost physically sick last night when I read what that monster/ and his associates had done to such a lovely child.

He needs the same treatment doing to him, absolute shyster.

We are too lenient in this country, this odious creature comes from a culture that is still medieval in its outlook and attitude to females. And there are more of them coming in every ruddy week......

If they won’t abide by home country laws on the treatment of others, maybe they should be sentenced under the laws they seem to believe they can operate under?

Stoning, perhaps?

Some parents and carers are just fundamentally evil.

Not sure you can really put the blame on social workers when the resources are so stretched and they have such big caseloads that they are not able to give each case the attention it deserves.

The system needs more money to avoid cases like this happening again.

School had noticed that she had started to present to class in a Hijab complete with bruising over her face/brow.
Maybe it's not more money the system needs, but more a modicum of common sense.

Do they do common sense at Uni?

Maybe they didn't want to say anything and the little girl was a victim of cultural sensitivity?

Missed the point entirely. Stretched services make cock-ups. Sometimes there is an innocent explanation for injuries and sometimes the parents are very good at covering up neglect and abuse and doing it in such a way that avoids suspicion. Social workers are taught to spot signs of neglect.

There would have also been other cases that demanded the social worker's time. Obviously with hindsight this should have been the priority and it shouldn't have been missed. But the reality is that cuts to services will result in tragedies.

It requires workers going out into the field and investigating their cases to meet the threshold for removal. Less money in the system means fewer workers and less contact time.

It’s not often I’m affected by what I read in the news but this really got to me, what that poor girl was subjected to and endured from her own family beggars belief.. So sad :-(
They need to throw away the key, hope those evil cunts get what they deserve in prison….
