Saudi Pro League

Have you ever gone on a field on Sunday morning and watched a game where you have no skin in the game? It is more than often boring regardless of the quality on show.

Premier league rivalry has been bread into almost every home in England and that is what makes the game what it is in this country, you can't clone it, it is it's collective self and greater than the sum of its parts. City's 80s attendance tells a story.

It is another NASL which failed as there were no foundations and paying over the top money for stars form other leagues is not sustainable.

Seems to have worked out for LIV Golf. I wouldn’t underestimate anybody from the middle-east with money and a vision… because we’ve seen with our own eyes they can be very effective. More so than similar North American or Chinese projects I’d wager.

Golf is an individual sport with zero team loyalty, and LIV have tournaments around the world.

No teams have signed up for the Saudi league from Europe, that would be the same as LIV and obviously not possible.

If they really go for it and are able to sustain the transfer fees and wages, then they may overtake all the european leagues in about 10 yrs. I do, however, see europan clubs continuing to only allow players near the end of their careers move to that league (uefa cartel).
At some stage the power base in football is going to shift away from the premier league. I just cannot see it being there.

The football equivalent of LIV golf would be two of the best teams from each of Europe's top five leagues, plus a couple from South America, competing in a small league

Also to be a fair comparison, LIV or the new organisation would be holding all their events in Saudi.

Are the Saudis even into football that much?
