Never has it been shown how much the world's biggest club need Davey as it was last night! Never have the 666 million needed a saviour as much as they need wee Davey now! In the desperate dark night of defeat the leader stands tall, faces reality full in the face and says quietly, "I am the chosen one! And have you forgotten who it was who chose me? I am Davey, and I shall be greater by far than all your other heroes! Give me the tools and I will finish the job! Give me your £200 million and I will fill this theatre of dreams with such players that you will see such things of beauty that you will be amazed, and you will declare that this day is indeed Davey's day! And from the sombre lowlands of Stretford we will pass to the sunny uplands of Europe and we will conquer everywhere, because I am your Davey. Let the message ring out this day that I am your Davey, I am the right one, I will always be your chosen one and we shall conquer. Together! Be part of it!"
