Has this ever been known in footballing history....where another clubs fans campaign for a manager of the opposition to not get the sack?....I'd say it's another record for gollums book.

Not quite a campaign, but I remember singing "Fergie in" at the 5-1 in response to the rags singing "Fergie out". They listened to us then (unfortunately). Let's hope they listen to us now.

I hope the candle lit vigil takes place. That will truly be one of footballs greatest moments.

Can any campaig/vigil please take place if we are 3-0 up and not after 6 minutes at 0-0 as these things have a habit of biting us in the arse,as in the ''Fuck off Mourinho!'' chants in the league game.

How about 72nd minute (months). Should hopefully be wrapped up by then.

. @SEF_MUFC will be AS ALWAYS. Like I already told you. But stop dodging the question. Why won't you pull it? If you don't we will
Could be interesting. Bit of Internet Bravado. I am expecting a big Utd win, but if they do go out, there will be a show of support for Man Utd.

Re: Save Our Dave Campaign: SOD

Keep the faith guys. There are some Rags who are still with us. Just lifted off Rag Cafe :-

"I feel tomorrow night will be the start of the 'Moyes era'. He, and the players, are in desperate need of a true United-like comeback, one which galvanises the entire club. There are echoes of the famous 1984 comeback against Barcelona in this Olympiacos tie, when everyone felt we were dead and buried after a 2-0 away loss but a raucous home crowd dragged us over the line.

I am confident we'll progress tomorrow (probably after extra-time) and we'll go into the Derby on a high. City are not playing very well and another passionate home crowd, coupled with the bouyant dressing-room after progressing in Europe, will give us every chance.

I wasn't wholly sold on him last May when he was announced, but I've been impressed with how he's met the challenge of being United manager with class and dignity. Lesser men would have exploded publicly long ago. He's not been without fault (bizarre team selections, poor substitutions and questionable managerial decisions - I feel he should have given Vidic the boot in January, for one) but he is learning, too. People speak of United being in 'transition' but lest we forget that Moyes is in transition himself, if we apply the same reasoning.

The flak the man has taken, even from our own, has been abysmal and the more criticism he receives, the more I want him to succeed. He's been left a bad hand: three of the first-choice four defenders knew they were off at the end of the season and best days far behind them, the midfield fiasco was scarcely believable for a club of United's stature, and the team, which was too reliant on wing-play introduced by the previous management team, has absolute shite wingers. We were incredibly lucky last season that our rivals collectively had 'mares. I refuse to believe our squad was justifiably eleven points better than any of the rest of the teams in the league. That statistic was an anomaly but it's a statistic which has been used as a stick to beat Moyes with.

Again, the man hasn't been totally without fault, but I refuse to believe our problems this season have solely been down to him. It's absolutely naive to think so."

I fear defeat tonight will do for him

I have a feeling these closing weeks of the season and the summer will be pivotal for them.

If they sack him now, the board can work on convincing key players to stay, perhaps hire a better manager (or at least brief the media of their intention to get a big name manager) who can attract good players even without CL, and they can attempt to rebuild.

If they chose not to, then I've got a feeling loads of key players will force moves this summer, they won't be able to attract anyone of note (no CL, and won't want to work with Moyes), and that will be the foundation of their empire completely swept from beneath them.

The next few months feels like the last chance saloon!

Come on guys, not long now!!!

Re: Save Our Dave Campaign: SOD

Here's hoping for a scraped win tonight, maybe on penalties, to keep them busy with bravado talk about how well they've done in Europe. I'll take the chance that they won't progress any further, let alone win it and two more games will mean more potential injuries and less energy for the PL.

Ideally I'd like a draw at WH, just to sow the seed of doubt again. Then - WHAM! I just hope our lot will be up for it like they have before on derby day. I see no reason why they wouldn't be.

Whether United finish 6th (and in the EL courtesy of City), 7th or lower, I'm not really fussed. Just so long as they do enough for Moyes to be retained until the start of next season. Think of all the tat he and Woodward could saddle them with for £200m or whatever their war chest is!

my worry is, if the lose tomorrow and drop points at the weekend he wont be there when they play us.

I cant see anyone being brought into the baptism of fire that would be us tbh.. bad omens and all that!!

He will be there until at least the end of the season no matter what happens, they will take stock then. There is nobody out there to replace him at the present, all the top managers are at other clubs.

I don't understand why they appointed him.He was young,Scottish and done a reasonable job at Everton? It was obvious he didn't play the style of football they supposedly like to play, had never won anything and had almost zero experiance in Europe. If they wanted a promising young manager who had done a good job at a smaller club[sorry Everton fans but at the minute you are] and HAD won a trophy and played good football Martinez was their man.
I expect he'll quite possibly last until the end of the season for the reasons you state and also for financial reasons too. I expect his contract, in spite of its six year length, will be full of break clauses which the club can activate if, say, united don't qualify for the Champions League, which they still mathematically can, however unlikely that eventuality is in reality. Once that actually happens then we may see the club act before the seasons end, depending on how the clause is worded (City had a similar situation with Joe Royle's sacking iirc).

There's little to be gained in sacking him now as this season is irretrievable and as you say who else is available who is capable of turning it round? Taggart's too canny to sully his reputation and Giggs too untried, although I do hear Lou Macari's available.

I love this whole "cut from the same cloth" bollocks just because he's from the Glasgow area and is easily annoyed. It's like saying Stevie Wonder and David Blunkett are cut from the same cloth because they're both blind.

Joe Royle was a foolish man to sign a contract with a break clause for not qualifying for the Champions League especially after losing Bobby Taylor.

Correct. If Dave is a dead man walking, you can bet his successor has already been anointed. Nobody, bar maybe the GPC, would want to kick off their reign against us with Utd playing as they are.
FWIW, I'd say he'll go at the end of the season. The board will faff about, seeking "the right man" but actually spinning their wheels to avoid spending their cash.

David Moyes hits new low as Tesco rules out hiring Manchester United boss

Jamie Sanderson: With David Moyes’ future at Manchester United becoming increasingly unclear, you wouldn’t blame the ex-Everton man for looking for a way out.

But if Moyes fancied a career change to a more normal job, such as working for Tesco, he can forget about it.

The idea of the United boss working for the supermarket giant arose on social media, amid suggestions that the Premier League champions were ready to sack him in the coming days.

Yet while the idea was clearly a joke, especially with Moyes insisting that he does have a future with the Red Devils, the company were keen to put the record straight – and distance themselves from the 50-year-old.
Jumping in during a fan discussion, their Twitter account for their mobile service said Moyes wouldn’t be welcome at Tesco – because he’s not a winner.

‘We’re award winners here… not sure he’d fit in.’

Ouch!

The Champions League is back tonight, separating the supreme from the supine.

Some managers expect to take part in it, driven to compete against the best, while others are grateful passengers – hitchhiking around Europe, collecting shirts along the way.

David Moyes’ debut season has been a disaster. A glance across Europe’s top leagues would make the Scot squint, before shielding his eyes – so bright and bold their continental progress must seem compared to Moyes’ mayhem and misery in Manchester.

Laurent Blanc is in his first season at PSG. His side are eight points clear in Ligue 1.

Pep Guardiola, another debutant, is demolishing the Bundsliga. Bayern Munich are 23 points clear in their league.

Carlo Ancelotti was announced at Real Madrid nearly eight weeks AFTER Moyes agreed to join United. His side stand three points clear at the top of La Liga.

It’s Jose Mourinho’s first season with Chelsea in six years – and we all know where they are.

We don’t know if all of these clubs will win the league this season. Some may win nothing at all. They could collapse and crumble.

In that unlikely event though, all of the managers above – Moyes apart – have done enough, in a similar amount of time afforded to Manchester United’s manager, to demonstrate they are capable.

They’ve all demonstrated that they DESERVE time. Time to shape their squads, to make big decisions on transfer policy and trophy priorities.

David Moyes doesn’t deserve it by default. He has to earn it like the rest of us. Worse still, it’s not just the big boys highlighting his lack of progress.

Managers of teams with more modest means have made more of their men than the Scot.

Just ask Olympiakos – 18 points clear in the Greek Super League, and 2-0 up in their last 16 Champions League tie against Moyes’ boys.

In the Premier League, Tony Pulis has given Crystal Palace a fighting chance of staying up.

How much worse can it get? What are they waiting for?
When he joined in November, they were bottom of the league. Gus Poyet – who joined Sunderland in October – has done a similar job on Wearside, taking the Black Cats to Wembley, mauling Moyes and Manchester United en route.

For many United fans – some scarred, others spoilt – this has been the worst season of football they have ever seen.

Most fans would accept that transition rarely translates to titles – but the abject nature of these defeats just cannot go on.

If they (ok, let’s be honest, when) they drop another point between now and May 11th, it will officially lead to Manchester United’s WORST Premier League points tally since the league began.

When Fergie retired on my birthday, he told the fans to be patient and get behind the new manager – but why would anybody get behind the man responsible for taking the defending champions of England to what will be one of their worst campaigns in living memory?

The evidence is overwhelming. How much worse can it get? What are they waiting for? It’s time for honesty and doing what’s right for the club – it’s time to drop David Moyes.

Please tell me you are joking here?
Leaving aside the unpalatable fact of actually wanting the rags to win any game, ever, why the fuck would you want them to progress further in Europe than we did, with the unlikely but not impossible chance of them bumbling their way through and winning the fucking thing?
We have a derby game coming up - going out of Europe, and the resulting infighting and recriminations will play havoc with their morale.
Moyes has come out and stated that he will be given time, even if, (when), they lose tonight.
Wanting a rags win tonight just doesn't compute for me.

Nor me. I wanted them to take points off the scousers because it would have benefitted us (although it was great watching them get thrashed:-)).

There's no reason to want them to win tonight though, I want them out of the CL (hopefully for years) and demoralised before the derby.

Baconface.
He can't lose. If he does well, they will be saying he is amazing, if he doesn't its Moyes' fault.

Re: Save Our Dave Campaign: SOD

"Stand by your man" Baconface has ordered, it doesn't matter if they do get beat tonight. I hope they go out miserably preferably with a boring goalless draw.

Well I hope the rags get fucked hard tonight, the only win I could ever sanction of theirs is one that helps us win the PL.
None of those left unfortunately unless they put the toffees out of the running for the top 6 and they're more likely to end that race by falling too far behind so I hope they get skullfucked in every game from now till eternity.
