Savings

Agreed, but you didn't say that. :) I don't see it happening under the current system.
Why not? For what it’s worth Reeves for example seems to know her stuff. I don’t find her particularly relatable though.

What system do you think we need to produce the type of politicians you want?

Many (blue)moons back I sat back and laid out a retirement plan. This was around the time of the Maxwell pension scandal, so my trust in such schemes was eroded to say the least. I took the decision to forego a personal pension scheme in favour of ISA's to top up the state pension, which I "thought" was sacrosanct if totally inadequate.

Up to the rumours surrounding the upcoming budget, I was fairly relaxed that I had done the right thing (or at least, done something that was working out). Having effectively planned myself out of tax relief on pension contributions, I was confident that my retirement fund, being housed in cash and S&S ISA's would at least enable me to live off their earnings without paying tax. Now I'm not so sure.

I guess it will all come out next week, but currently I'm the most nervous I have been about this "plan"
Feel for you - that's a shite feeling to have considering you have planned and implemented (which is what we will have been educated to do)...........

Still cannot get my head around why so many voted Labour. The majority of people knew this was coming and whilst the whole system is a complete circus at this point, Rishi Sunak was correct in his last attempt in advising people to not vote labour just because you want conservatives out. To answer your question...waiting.
What was the alternative?

Civil servants run the country the Mp's rake in as Much as they can have a pension that set them up for life and most mps will end up millionaires!

THEY DONT GIVE A FLYING FUCK ABOUT ANY OF US!
