Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

'Better' is irrelevant. 'Suited' is more important.

Sav did well for Girona, playing mostly on the left and while they played a possession game, they weren't as dominant as us and didn't come up against packed defences.

Palmer, I thought, was ready to replace Mahrez on the right. Maybe that wasn't the role he wanted, but he could have done it, and better than Savinho did last year - partly because he'd grown up playing the City way and had learnt how to play there under Pep.

I think Sav could do well on the left, but that's a tactical decision of Pep's. I'm not sure he's ever going to be top class on the right. I still expect him to leave late on on the window and play on the left for Spurs.
Savinho and Alt-Nouri would be a disaster on the left.

Whether you could see it or not the fact is Palmer IS the far better player...

The question is whether Palmer was the far better player aged 21, before moving to Chelsea. He wasn't seen as such by Pep and club bosses, that's why we accepted 45m.

Imo, Pep thought Bobb was the superior talent and we were happy to sell Palmer in order to make room for Bobb.

Btw, I still think Bobb might develop into a better player than Palmer.

The chances were there though, almost every shot he had was soft, wide or blocked. He just doesn’t really have that instinctive finishing quality that can’t be taught.

Getting £70m for a non-scoring, rarely assisting winger would be great business even if we didn’t buy a replacement. Bobb, Cherki, Marmoush are all better and more effective. I’d rather see O’Reilly get more games than Savinho.
In fairness, there were times Haaland couldn't hit the side of a barn as well! :)

Okay and where is the context to what the other member said? I never said Palmer isn’t better. He is a top 5 offensive player in the league
The context was that you could see 2 years ago that Palmer was better when 1. the other played a very very good season in a top league while „ the better one „ had like 5 games . Savinho is better than Palmer was at 19 and is better than Palmer was at 20. his season being 21 is going to start now. And that’s where Palmer started to turn up
Who is again 2 years older.

Bobb is an incredible player. With only the two games he has played, he has managed to replace and improve on Palmer, Alvarez, and now Savinho.

It's obvious to anyone Bobb is a very special talent. Your post would make sense if we were talking about Mukasa.

He may, I agree...

The reality is, we need to lose 3 players, off the NHG list for the CL.

Without replacing them.

That doesn't include Phillips or players that have not been in our squad since january or at the cwc, who although the club need to find moves for, would not be expected to be a part of our playing squad this year.

One of Ortega or Ederson will go without being replaced, as we currently have 4 keepers. That's one for sure. If Donnarumma signs to replace ederson, ortega will still go, or not be registered. If ederson leaves and isn't repalced (unlikely seemingly) then ortega can stay, but it still frees up one space whichever way you put it.

If Echeveri goes on loan that's 2.

Then it is any one of savinho, akanji, gundo, or people mention kovacic but I find that unlikely. That's 3 and we have our squad. That can be registered in the CL, and is down to 23 players with a space at HG and a space at CT.

IF we can't shift one of the above players, then someone else needs to go on loan, the likes of kush or nico gonzales.

With shifting Savinho, you may need/want to replace him, so it is back to square one on that one. With Akanji or Gundo, we have enough cover to let them go outright.

There is an alternative where one or more of Echeveri, Savinho, kush stay and are registered in the PL but not in the CL. But I just do not see that happening. Maybe one of the senior players doesnt get registered, like Gundo, but I don't see that either.

If we shift say ortega, gundo and akanji, then Echeveri can stay with the squad, as can savinho or any player that might replace him.

So it is a case of 3 moves sorts the squad out.
City should say to Galatasary but Ederson and Akanji at a decent price say €25/€30m and we’ll throw Gundo in for free
