Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Exactly. Bobb has a massive potential and I think many people forgot that because he was injured the entire season. It's a joy to watch him play. When I watch Savinho play he just makes me angry.

The problem is that many of us don't see this as an anomaly. If Savinho had a conversion rate of the other 2 I'd be cursing our board for even thinking about selling him. If we really have to keep him, I truly hope he proves me and others wrong and ends up scoring at least 7-9 goals per PL season along with his 8 assists. Because if he doesn't, we're all gonna suffer next season, again.

It's not really about whether you see it as an anomaly; in raw numbers shooting at a 2% conversion rate is anomalous, for any player - this isn't exclusively about Savio.

And tbf you kinda cover in that why I'd be cursing the board for selling him because he's shown he can score at 25% at Girona so why can't he at City next season. Even at 10% he'd have got 5 goals last year.

To sell someone who is in nearly all respects as good as Doue and Barcola because he was weighed down by statistically the most unfortunate shooting percentage in all of Europe would be very shortsighted. I suspect Viana and Soriano agree.

If Rodrygo, a Pep favourite, wasn't on the table I doubt we'd entertain it at all.

Get the graphs back out lad, that'll change everyone's mind

It increasingly becoming people who can acknowledge evidence against their suppositions vs people who can't.

This is the weirdest thread in the history of bluemoon imo because theres a lot of supported reason why he's good and clearly the club agrees and a lot of counter arguments that just gloss over that to be like "well I remember that one moment", "i dont like his face", "if he stays Bobb can never play again" and just fundamentally misunderstand the level 20 year olds are at and a complete lack of ability to interpret stats and averages.

For me, that's the only anomaly about Savinho. The cannonball against Juve (which ofc was deflected) instead of him having 1 goal in 32 PL games. 1 game vs 32 games, that 1 game is way more likely to be an anomaly.
Or, he's a young player adjusting to a new country, new club, new culture, new teammates, new coach, and deserves some time to settle in in order to produce his best form. Maybe he's getting to grips with what's required and it's worth another season to see if he develops so that the finish against Juve becomes less of an anomaly?

Is it possible to watch a young player and think to yourself this kid has talent and potential, without him being an instant world beater? Or do we just right them off?

Do we put the goals in a different place in England?

Let's say this first season was him adjusting to the PL, if he pulls the Girona numbers next season here with us or even a little bit less than that I'll publicly apologize to you here for defending him before the season :D
And I really hope I'll be proven wrong because him taking off in the PL would benefit all of us.

All for that mate!

Let's hope he doesn't go 25 G/A at Spurs though!

I just have more faith in Bobb who’s shown far greater composure and has a far higher ceiling in my opinion.
I’d be happy if they both stay. Both have huge potential. Bobb is a joy to watch and seems to have fantastic football brain. It’s not as if Savinho struggled in his first year in the league though. His shooting was abysmal but getting into good positions wasn’t a problem for him. He should improve during his 2nd season all round and i think the goals will start to come.

I think this is mind games, we don't want him to play against us on the weekend, so we don't sell him until after the game.

The concern for me with Sav is that he played around 2/3s of his games on the left in Spain, so he was shooting from different positions to now.

Additionally, he's now shooting usually under pressure and with a packed box in front of him more often than not. Again, that's different to what he faced at Girona.

Like you say, that conversion rate is likely to improve - if only because getting any worse isn't really possible. That doesn't mean it will get to where we want it to be though. I'm not sure Girona is a decent guideline.

I can't wait for Savinho to play with Cherki, Reijenders and Bobb and find understandings on the pitch together. As well as learn off each other in terms of creating and scoring goals in training. Add to that hopefully a rejuvenated Foden & Haaland this season. And sprinkle Marmoush on top.

Savinho could be a different player with the different vibe in the camp this season. Just need to wait for the window to shut so the focus can be on the ball and the onion bag.

In fairness this is what he’s said consistently over past 7-10 days since this Savinho spurs thing first broke.
Romano's info always feels like he's agitating on behalf of agents. If this were coming from City, it wouldn't be phrased like this.
