Doku/Rodrygo
Haaland/Marmoush
Bobb/Foden/Cherki

How we manage to give Marmoush any meaningful minutes becomes more of a conundrum if we get Rodrygo

Agreed. £70m typically gets you someone more proven than Savinho. I think we are typically quite poor sellers (academy players aside) but this would be excellent business on our part.

The rodrygo case is a funny one. One thing is that the stats do matter when it comes to savinho but they don’t matter when it comes to other players. The fact that Rodrigo’s numbers drop each season is ignored while another argument is that savinho did it in a weaker league - but that doesn’t count when it comes to rodrygo who scored 2 against us ( until today the only reason why people think so highly of him) . When he doesn’t deliver it’s the others fault. Hmm…

Rodrigo is a gamble we don’t need to make. We have lots of attacking cover on the right side with Doku, Foden, Bobb, Marmoush, even Nunes at a pinch.

£70m for Savinho (who we bought for £30m just a year ago) is a lot, regardless of how much you rate him. Honestly, I really want to see a lot of Bobb, Cherki and Marmoush this season and believe Foden will be back in a key role. So I'm not sure I even see how Savinho fits in this season, so if this £70m offer is real, we've got to take it

This is exactly my thoughts. Savinho was decent but not a revelation. If he stays he needs to kick on but I'm kit sure how many games he would get. I'd rather see Foden back in form. And we have plenty of other attacking players who need minutes.

Isn't the obvious counter point to this that, if Spurs are prepared to make him their record signing, and City are hesitating over a £70m fee, it's because multiple scouting teams and management think he's going to be world class?


Also remember that the £30m fee was very much a CFG friendly figure, if he'd been at another club he'd probable have been £45m after being one of the best players in La Liga at 19.

I think I'm at peace with any decision but wouldn't be surprised if he stayed and had a big second season like Sané, or left and was Palmer 2.0.

Savinho isn't even close in the scoring stakes, and he is way off on the shots to goal ratio.

I wasn't even talking about Evanlison, I was just saying Semenyo doesn't thrive at City unless Haaland is happy to constantly defer in attacking situations like Evanilson does.

And semenyo struggles to make accurate passes, which we actually do a fair bit of.

I think you don't fully appreciate what it means to play for Pep or for City for that matter. Semenyo would be great at United or Spurs, but terrible at City because he isn't good enough on the ball or off the ball.

Yeah doesn't seem to be neat enough in possession. It could possibly be a result of their style though - if he was at City he'd always have plenty of options, whereas there he's left isolated a bit more. Even so, he's not a player we need.

I'm not sure if Rodrygo is needed either if we sell Sav. Give Bobb the chance to really develop and kick on this season. If we want more cover in that area, go and get a very young player who can be used in cup games and sub appearances.
