Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Even if savio goes we will not sign rodrygo he's not needed!!!
That is not the opinion of Fabrizio Romano. Some people might scoff at the mention of his name but he has the contacts and is not biased as we are. FR says that if City sell Savinho, we will bid for Rodrygo.

Isn't the obvious counter point to this that, if Spurs are prepared to make him their record signing, and City are hesitating over a £70m fee, it's because multiple scouting teams and management think he's going to be world class?

Also remember that the £30m fee was very much a CFG friendly figure, if he'd been at another club he'd probable have been £45m after being one of the best players in La Liga at 19.

I think I'm at peace with any decision but wouldn't be surprised if he stayed and had a big second season like Sané, or left and was Palmer 2.0.
Totally agree with this, people rubbing their hands at the prospect of what seems to be an inflated fee, should probably mull over the possibility that Savinho is a better player, with a much higher potential ceiling, than many realise.

If he performs as well as I suspect he's going to with a season in the PL under his belt, that inflated fee quickly becomes a bargain, and we look a bit silly again. Once can be considered unlucky, twice starts to look a bit like incompetence, so it wouldn't surprise me if there are people at the club who are dubious about this sale.

Any claims of new increased bids i immediately deem bullshit from proper chancers. We are 2 days away from playing them, there will be no business done if at all until after that game so why would spurs desperately throw out a new increased bid after seemingly losing out on Eze like something out of a tired comedy?

How does Savinho fulfil his potential without games?

Firstly, I wouldn’t sell to Levy. This is the **** who very publically “wouldn’t pick up the phone to City” regarding the Kane saga. For that alone I’d string him along all summer then fuck him off last minute.

Savinho is going to be an extremely good player. Once his decision making and finishing clicks he’ll be dynamite.

Unless we have someone equally as promising or a finished article type player lined up I’d keep him.

As that sums Spurs up, I can well believe it!

Pep signed Kalvin Phillips & sold Palmer, he (or rather the upper management because these aren't individual decisions) make mistakes.

Bit of a dilemma for the club. He wants to be a key figure and play most games. He isnt good enough at the moment for that at City. He also reportedly wants to go.

Plus, it's not clear that Rodrygo would be a better player while earning 4-5 times what Savinho currently gets.

Pep can easily bench Savinho to play Cherki and Foden. Won't be that easy to bench Rodrygo, and Marmoush wants to play as well...

If the guys already agreeing personal terms, undermining the Manager by posting videos and pictures on social media when the manager has said he's injured, demanding to be starting every match - then just get the most money we can for him.

The rodrygo case is a funny one. One thing is that the stats do matter when it comes to savinho but they don’t matter when it comes to other players. The fact that Rodrigo’s numbers drop each season is ignored while another argument is that savinho did it in a weaker league - but that doesn’t count when it comes to rodrygo who scored 2 against us ( until today the only reason why people think so highly of him) . When he doesn’t deliver it’s the others fault. Hmm…
Opinion Opinions its what keeps this place going. Many on here will remember a time when statistics belonged to academia and industry and only a couple of vital ones entered the realm of football. Some like myself on the evidence of their eyes and experience would take a good look at a player and form an opinion. Scoring vital goals is a habit worth forming and something which should not be discarded from an assessment of a players worth. This qualia like thing tends to transcend numbers and ultimately leads to a greater impression of a players worth. Personally I think both these guys have a bit about them and for me it boils down to wanting to be at City and contribute to the cause. Lets hope at least one of them are here in September and manage to make a difference.

Of course clubs make mistakes, every side in the world makes them and no club will ever have a 100% success rate. I’m replying to the forum wind up who has been posting the same nonsense for the past week or so about stats.

If Pep wants Rodrygo and we have the funds we should trust him. If Savinho is happy to go and an acceptable bid is made we should let him go. The fact he even wants to leave us for Spurs should be a big red flag but that’s just my opinion.

The way some go on about stats on this forum they’d want David Silva sold. Goals and assists don’t mean everything, I saw enough of Savinho last season to know he won’t make it with us long term.

His defensive work rate and half arsed press just doesn’t cut it and he’s not so good we can accommodate him like we do Haaland. He’ll probably thrive at Spurs where he has more space to run into but that’s why he’ll cost £70m.
