Savinho extends his contract to 2031

Looking from the outside in I also am not sure how he’s warranted this extension

However, there’s very very knowledgeable and experienced people in the inner sanctum of our club, that know this kid and see him every day, so know about him one million percent more than any of us on here

That’s enough for me

Wonder how many on here scapegoating him, are going to switch back to the young talented winger he was before the summer.

I understand the new contract going off the price City put to Spurs when they were sniffing. Well done by his agent.

Now I’m happy enough to watch Savinho develop in the next 1-2 years. And put my trust in the experts within the club that see him every day and know what talented player he is.

A good decision.
He's a top talent that I hope we get the benefit of.
If we decide to sell, this new deal increases his value; it is a no-brainer.

Hugo Viana: “He has superb natural ability, works incredibly hard day in, day out, and he is humble. He is very eager to keep learning and help the team, and his ambition is to be one of the best attacking players in the game."

This is what the club sees in training and around the club, every single day.

Did/do we value him at £60m+?

Sorry to be a negative nellie, but he's done nothing so far to suggest he's even close to a £60m player. I'd love to see him become one and clearly those at the club who know a lot more than I do feel he can do. Let's hope he does; but based on what we've seen on the pitch so far, I'm not convinced.
So you believe spurs actually bid 60 nillion or know for a fact and in what terms was they going to pay ? All up front or 10 million a year or goal
I'll believe DOF protecting asset and putting release clause in contact if rhey want him theyll come back

He was under contract and hasn't shown enough to warrant a huge extension.

Strange time to do it when he looked to be out of the door.

If he shows enough this season then offer extension in the summer.

When the chips are down for us he disappears.

Big improvement needed to warrant the extension.

Just had to check his stats,

21 years of age

32 appearance over the last 2 seasons

1 goal.

1 goal in 32 as an attacking winger is pretty poor by anyone's standards.
That’s a stat.

He also was one of our top creators last season. He got 13 assists in all competitions, 10 in the PL and created 43 chances with only De Bruyne with more chances created per 90mins.

For a 20 year old, that’s impressive.

De Bruyne got 9 PL assists in his first season with us and he was 24, DSilva got 8 PL assists in his first season with us and he was 24, Foden’s best season for assists was 2023-24 when he got 8 PL assists and he was 23 and won POTS.

There is no way I would have extended his contract, a very weak and ineffectual player.
The stats from mancity.com indicate that for 2024/25 that was not the case:

Apps: 48
Goals: 3
Assists: 13.

Furthermore, he's 21, and the announcement on mancity.com show that the extension has been made in respect of the player's potential. Isn't that obvious to you?

Agree it's hard to justify this except as an attempt to secure our assets into the future - bit like Haaland - but I really hope this isn't a harbinger of bad news on the 115 front.

If City do get found guilty of the serious stuff we would need to sell players, not keep them around

It is all about personal opinions isn’t it?

I think he showed promise last season but this season he’s been bang average. He’s still very young and got loads of time to improve but he’ll need to show it more this season or he’ll find himself mainly on the bench, and he won’t improve there.

A good decision, I’m pleased for the lad…he needs to start showing some desire to get a regular start, and if he can do that maybe he can prove there’s a player in there..

Which antics, never asked to move but seemed to be open to a move if the club got offered a fee we would accept, we didn’t, he was happy to stay.
He obviously wanted more money. We were split on accepting a bid for him. It’s not a coincidence that he has his contract bumped a month later.

No. You said he was very weak and ineffectual. His stats from 2023/24 that were included in the announcement of his extension indicate that you are wrong.

2023/24 Girona

Apps: 41
Goals: 11
Assists: 10

2024/25 Manchester City

Apps: 48
Goals: 3
Assists: 13

2025/26 Manchester City (as of 3 October 2025)

Apps: 4
Goals: 1
Assists: 0

I think he needs to improve significantly and I believe he can. His goal at Huddersfield was an example of what he is capable of. Your comment, and others, are unbalanced.
