Scam Scam Scam Scam

I think I've been the victim of an attempted scam.

I've had a text on my mobile from number 00524917010240 which says "YOUR CELL NO. HAS BE AWARDED 500,000 POUNDS IN THE NOKIAMOBILE PROMO. REF NO S8N FOR CLAIM SEND NAME, CELL NO & COUNTRY TO OUR EMAIL: nokiauk(at)mail2world.com"

It's obviously shit but has anyone received anything similar before? I don't want to get hounded with texts and was considering reporting it to T-Mobile.

I love the ref number. S8N! God bless...

Edit - If it's genuine then I'll buy the 11/12 seasoncard for the first 10 people who reply.

I deal with this sort of stuff every day. Whilst you have sussed it as a scam many people do not and are robbed of money, their identity or in most cases both.
Basically I gather as much information about the sender, a majority of which is dealt with by the geeks with the fancy computers downstairs, and forward it to Interpol, the internet provider, police and appropriate Government department from the senders country. They will act on this and quite often catch and prosecute the sender. Don't forget that this will be one of many, many attempts at scamming people around the world and can net tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of pounds.

PM with your mobile and email account details and password. I'll also need your bank/building society account details including internet banking log on details. If yo have a driving licence and/or passport it's better to send the numbers of those too. I'll get a block put on them so nobody can use them to get a loan/credit card/mortgage without having to through a security check - details of which I'll forward to you tomorrow. Finally I'll need to register you on the 'Data Internacional Credite Kinnect Head Evasion And Detection' file which costs £150 - which you will be refunded from Interpol who are trying to stamp internet fraud and scamming out. I'll already have you credit card details so just send me the 3 digit number off the baclk of the card and I'll get the ball rolling.

I'd like to be registered on the D.I.C.K.H.E.A.D file too, please. I shall scan all the above (with my birth certficate and NI number, to boot) and post them on this very site forthwith.

It's people like you who restore my faith in human nature.

It's kosher pal. I'm sat in my hot tub in my Cheshire mansion, with a fleet of high performance vehicles on the drive and a string of wags after some of my length.

So glad i replied to that text.

You legend. I'll PM you shortly and sort the £150 out asap. I was going to donate it to Children In Need but this is more important.

Thanks again.

I got a text the other saying something about me being in a car accident and I can make a claim.

It's all good, however, I haven't been in a car accident...

Maybe it was that drive by shouting incident you were involved in a few months back
