The virus scam is a popular one. A screen pops up on your computer telling you you're infected with spyware and it asks for your credit card details to buy an anti-virus program. Some of the more complex ones manage to delete your own virus checker and try to force you to buy one back.

My neighbour fell for that one. Along with buying tickets off a UK based companies website that only accepted debit card details over the phone. Turns out they weren't a UK company at all ;-)
