Nah, it’s because when Laporte is left back it’s Dinho who steps into midfield rather than Laporte. Same system that leaves 3 at the back, just different position that moves forward.

Shame for Sane but Bernardo and Sterling have been excellent providing the width in the last few league games so I can see why he's on the bench. Sterling especially has made the left his own with his recent performances.
Hope Sane comes on and makes his case.

Same as what we did against Arsenal then. It worked then and I expect it to work again tonight but mainly due to the strength of our individuals compared to theirs rather than the formation. For me it's an unnecessary risk playing this way, particularly in a knock out competition away from home. Pep knows what hes doing but it doesn't stop be feeling uneasy seeing just 3 defenders on the pitch

I found it strange that so many were leaving David Silva out of their line up predictions.
The one thing you can be sure of with Pep is that if he’s fit he plays.
He may have had an off month or so but along with Fernandinho, Emerson and Laporte he’s definitely one of the main go to players.
It’s a good team and I see no reason why we can’t put this to bed tonight.
