it should already be planned and ready to be set.

Weeks in advance?
I wouldn't have thought so - not if it is done correctly anyway.

how do you plan a progression through a topic, lessons and term without planning what's going to be done in class and at home?

And how do you plan work weeks in advance without an understanding of what level the children are at?
You may know that in 3 weeks you will be doing addition in maths but children will be doing that at different levels and until you have assessed where they are in terms of understanding, it would be near impossible to plan effective homework.

I can't see why parents and teachers just behave like adults and talk. I'm guessing most teachers know roughly which part of a subject they will going through a couple of week in advance so if the parents give them some notice they would be able to sort some homework out. Its better than just taking 120 quid off parents who have saved a lot more.

Yes, because teachers have nothing better to do than to find homework for kids who don't bother to turn up at school.

Well a £120 fine doesn't seem to be working when folk save 400, 500 and upwards. I still think good teachers who know one of their pupils is pissing off to Benidorm for a week wouldn't mind just giving them some extra homework they could do before or after the holiday.

Not ideal but they wouldn't fall behind as much.

To be honest, when I go to Barcelona and Munich etc to watch City all my teachers know and don't really mind. Just my Science one gives me more homework ( because she's a bitter Everton fan).

Wow school sure has changed since I went in Failsworth. Back then the teachers couldn't give two fucks about educating children. All they wanted to do was physically and emotionally abuse them.

Fucking hell mate, showers?
My teacher picked me up by the hair and slammed me face first into the blackboard, causing me to pass out cold and smash my face on the corner of the desk, spewing blood everywhere. When I came too he asked if I hadn't eaten my Weetabix this morning. I still have the scar on my face now, 40 odd years later. I hope the **** got raped by the mortician.

He, I'm the other evil looking ****, three down from my nemesis, Sharma.
Note, I don't have lopsided shoulders, that was my first loves skirt making them look weird.
