I learnt this when I was a kid living in Singapore. Same game but different words. I don't know if it was Cantonese or Mandarin but the chant was "lung chang pass" with the shape thrown on the word Pass. The speed was also considerably faster than in the Uk and it was always first to 5.

Even now 35 years later my siblings and I still call it Lung chang pass which can cause some curiosity amongst friends.
