If Mancini see's the need for a winger as a priority, then we could do better than Sinclair.

How many wingers would sit 28 league games regardless of Cup competitions with a pedigree better than Sinclair?
I don't understand what you mean?

Like who?
Players like Mertens, heck even Nani, and as has been said Dyer was better for Swansea last season (not saying we should go for him, just highlighting that he is in fact better than Sinclair) even Moses.

Even then, AJ isn't exactly much worse than him.

If he does sign I'l support him whole heartedly but you can't honestly think he's the best we can do?

A top class winger is going to cost you upwards of minimum £20m and high wages not to mention a long drawn out saga because it is us. Hazard and Sanchez have turned us down in the last year and now we need width desperately. We're not going to get that top class winger now because there are 8 days to go to the start of the season and 21 days left of the window which is why we are going for a cheaper option who can do a job and Scott Sinclair fits that bill.

I'll be very happy if we sign Sinclair and we have him and Johnson as wide options. They won't play in the top games but if we need a change of plan they can have an impact.

Of course he's not the best winger we could get. However, it seems like he ticks the most boxes.

-Inexpensive
-Young
-Homegrown
-Willing to be benched/acceptance he won't be a regular starter
-Pacey
-Genuine winger (unlike Johnson) so would provide a Plan B
-Premiership experience

It's all very well and good plucking a young reasonably cheap winger for Germany, but he wouldn't fulfil all the criteria that we require, as outlines above. Sinclair makes perfect sense IMO. He will not sell shirts for us, but we are not the new Galcticos, nor does the board want us to be, being the prudent businessmen they have proven themselves to be.
But like I said, IF Mancini thinks this is position is a priority then we could do better; WNRH then wished for a list.

no true professional should accept this.

True , cant understand why everyone gets on johnsons back, ok he`s not the greatest player in the world but he `s certainly better than Sinclair & i`d be happy for him to stay.

Are people underwhelmed because he's not Messi?

Decent player for a decent fee, what's the problem?
Yes everyone who is not delighted with signing this Chelsea reject, who is as inconsistent as Adam Johnson are infact just underwhelmed because it's not Messi.

Yaya Toure is an Arsenal reject. Balotelli is a Barca reject. Just because he didn't make it at Chelsea does not mean he couldn't do a job for us.

Is he going to shove Silva or Nasri out of the side? No he isn't. Some fans need to realise that you can't have 22 world class players in a squad.

Would any of our rivals take Barry for a fee? They wouldn't, doesn't mean he isn't good enough for us.

Muniain, Tello. Both younger and much better than him

Muniain would command a large fee from Bilbao, upwards on £20m.

Tello, based on what? That he is Spanish and plays for Barca?
Yaya Toure had a trial at Arsenal. He didn't spend 5 years there so they could see his potential and then say no. For what's it's worth if it wasn't for work permit issues he would of signed for Arsenal. Balotelli had just won the Golden Boy and cost us £25 million. He wasn't being sold because he wasn't good enough.

Of course he wont replace Silva or Nasri. He isn't much of an improvement on AJ.

Tello plays for Barcelona and didn't look out of place. He has shown much more potential than Sinclair. He is younger and is a better option.

I am all for building a squad but filling it with players who are not better than what we have now isn't going to improve things. Last season we were no where near good enough to progress far in the CL. We could have the same team plus Sinclair. Against Napoli did you think 'we could do with a Scott Sinclair to win this game'

OK so say you were a director of a small company. A much, much, much bigger company offered you a job with more money, but in a middle-management role with scope, if you work hard enough and focus on the end goal of that company, for moving up and establishing yourself? At the same time, working with some of the best in your field? I wouldn't say no, and I wouldn't be any less of a professional as a result.

Let's not bury the player just yet. Roberto did sign Savic, but he doesn't get too many deals wrong.
