Scottish Football rejects major overhaul.

Too many glory hunters supporting the old firm. I would have been fed up of it years ago.

Celtic fans seem to love being the only powerful team in the league. They just don't get it. The brains of rio and Rooney combined.

The vote against seemed to be idiotic. The ST Mirren chairman's standpoint was basically "Why can't we take the good bits of this proposal and build on them?" despite beign told by virtually everyone else "This is it, this is the only solution, there's no Plan B". He seemed to want to, basically, hold everyone else over a barrel to get through things just he wanted. He managed to convince the Ross County chairman to vote with him and scupper the whole deal. The 11-1 voting system seems very strange, can you imagine the Premiership working on something so weighted towards such a small number of teams? It's like (actually worse than) us having an 18-2 vote, you'd never get anything decided and you'd be constantly held up by the leagues shitter sides who are likely not going to be in the top division much longer! Can you imagine QPR and Norwich being able to hold up a ground breaking vote in the Premiership on their own?!
The reason we have the 11-1 voting system up here is to ensure that when the OF are both in the league noone can vote against what they want. I.e. they always tend to vote together and it would never leave one club.
They are not listening to the fans and what we want up here, all they are worries about is the short term future. The SPL is close to going bust and that is why they are desperate for things to be implemented to keep them afloat.
They put a survey out to us and never consulted its answers. We feel that to take the financial hit right now would be better and to slowly rebuild the league and make it a better more competitive place. You've never seen a place so geared up to help two teams dominate. Everything from the split of TV money is geared up for first and second place; the old firm.

What is weird is that Aberdeen voted to keep the 11-1 system. But then after yesterday it seems like they are close to going bust as well.

St mirren and Ross county are two Heros for voting no yesterday. I wished all the clubs would.

Far too many glory hunters. We have a final with Celtic in Glasgow next month, and let me tell you this for a fact. Going through from Edinburgh will be just as many Celtic busses as hibs busses.
You guys see it with UTD but it is nothing in comparison to what we have with the old firm. The true reflection of their support is when they have a home cup tie. And many from through here - edinburgh and the lothians - cannot be bothered to go through. The grounds are lucky to have 20000 as opposed to 60000.
Busses from all over the country go to support them. It destroys our local clubs.

Ross County asked their fans and voted accordingly.

Why should Ross County, debt free, be ordered what to do by debt-ridden clubs such as Aberdeen and Hearts? Fair play to them.

The idea was ridiculous anyway. After 22 games, the league splits so, if you finish 9th in the top league, you will play teams such as Morton and Patrick instead of Celtic and Rangers for the last 7 games. Why would fans buy a season ticket for that?

I don't understand why they don't make the SPL bigger to 18 or 20 teams. EVERY big league in Europe has that, why don't Scotland try it? At the moment, the league is so boring with only one relegation place and either Celtic or Rangers winning the league.

Add to the fact that they play each other 4 times a year in the league! Ross County and ICT have a big derby and this year was the first year they've both been in the SPL. Sounds exciting huh? It was, at first, but they've played each other 6 times this season so the novelty is dead there - total overkill.

I honestly think there's a chance of Sky not renewing the tv deal it's THAT bad.

They're stuck between smaller leagues and league splits, playing each other too many times a season but just about staying afloat compared to bigger leagues where they play a normal set of fixtures but the wealth just dissipates into the league leaving everyone poorer and probably killing the league.

I could imagine it being frustrating and annoying. I used to argue with United 'fans' down south, but they just didn't get it. They would just rub my face in it they've won a league or fa cup that year and brush away the point. It must be 100 times worse there.

I'd rather have every Scottish club in england bar the old firm, they can enjoy their dominance by themselves like they normally do.

The FA and spl don't want change. They want that same dominance to remain for decades

The current format is pretty dull, playing the same teams all the time, and a season like this where Dundee have been relegated since January and Celtic have won the league since August, the only thing to play for in the league has been Europe.

I'd have 2 leagues of 16, 2 up 2 down automatically, then id have 3rd n 4th bottom play off against 3rd and 4th top from the 2nd division.

The format isn't the most important thing though, its the quality of player. There's some teams that do actually try and play good, passing football, but the players just aren't good enough to make it particularly good to watch. Its not as bad as folk like to make it out on here, especially given the respective budgets, but it should be better.

The fact you're saying that about the OF Is brilliant. They believe, to a man, they would prosper down south, not only that but that they are wanted.
It's taken one year playing England for rangers to be called up about their singing. We have to put up with it up here, the police pretend they don't hear it, so it was refreshing to see English police not stand for it.

But yeah it's near impossible to progress in this country, beyond third position anyway- when rangers are here- as the league is set up to benefit them. They then go on and moan about a lack of competition. It's brutal.
