Reports saying that Neil (aka "Colin") Warnock will be appointed as interim Aberdeen manager for the remainder of the season. Does that strike you as a strange appointment, or is it just me?

Sort of, but he's been rumoured for a few jobs up here over recent years and he had previously applied for the Aberdeen job.

I like the guy, there was a thread on this forum about him not so long ago and I expressed as much then. I find him easy to listen to, quite funny and all round a bloke I'd happily go for a pint with. I actually think he'll do a decent job at Aberdeen too, but admittedly that opinion is tempered somewhat by him not having any transfer window etc to work with. He's fared ok over the years, ok his win % statistic doesn't look great for anyone reluctant to take a nuanced view of it but yeah, he's a decent manager and it's good to see him up here. He's also a Greenock Morton fan I believe. When Killie were in the championship a couple of years ago he appeared at Cappielow one Friday night BBC match.

I think he was also the manager of Sheff Utd in the "battle of Bramall Lane" against a WBA team featuring Derek McInnes. Edit - yes he was, just realised McInnes actually scored in that match and was awarded man of the (incomplete) match. Turns out they've a fair bit in common football wise - Morton, Aberdeen, WBA/Sheff Utd!

It’s hard to dislike Warnock. I heard him on Talksport trying to distance himself from his liking of Rangers. Made me laugh.

Difficult one as I want him to do well but obviously not at that club.

He was a regular visitor to Morton games. My nephew played for their reserves and Warnock was often there. Anybody that knows Cappielow knows when the wind blows in off the Clyde it gives Gayfield a run for its money as the coldest ground in the Uk!

I really detest the bloke. His football is archaic. Plus, has a side managed by him ever lost a game without it being the referee's fault?

Nah. I like characters like him. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and talks up our game and our beautiful country.

If those bastards take anything tomorrow night I reserve the right to withdraw these posts!!

He ll be fine about the officials tomorrow night. I’m sure we are getting Don Robertson (again) who’s one of them!!
