Guys I havent read the thread but I was wondering what will happen to the Union jack and 'Great Britain' if Scotland vote yes.Do they stay the same or would they be changed?

it would have the Soltaire element removed as it is the flag of the union and the dark blue would disappear from the hew design

Does it have to? Who says? Cant we just decide to keep it as it is, if only to irritate our neighbours?

Hawaii has a Union Jack on its state flag as do independent ex-British colonies Fiji and Tuvalu.

I'm already getting bored of this jock vote as I have the attention span of a dumb goldfish.

What if any impact will it have on a normalish fella living in the north west of England, with absolutely no connection to Scotland, have on me if they do decide to fuck off?

One positive is I wont probably hear the word Cowdenbeath or how many Celtic have smashed past some other team again.

The uncertainty it will create in the next two years will affect you. Interest rates, the value of sterling and economic growth will all be affected (not knowing your personal circumstances these changes might even benefit you). Money may have to be pumped into the banks again. The outcome of future general elections could be affected. Some occupational pension schemes may be affected.

It will not affect you as much as the Scots, but it will have an impact.

If Scotland vote YES, I think they will keep the pound.

It isn't their decision.

The Chancellor's said they can't and the Bank Of England have said they can't.

They make the decision, not Alex Salmond or Scotland.
The bank of England haven't

Yes, they have.

Roll on Friday when all this bollocks will be over, if it's NO that is.
The Yessers won't let it rest.

We've already seen some using their bully boy tactics in intimidating anyone who dares consider voting no.

Aye, there's a real danger that a No vote will lead to a Scottish Republican Army setting up and blowing stuff up. There's enough nutters out there. That shite film Braveheart is behind a lot of this bitterness. Only the other day I saw some berk quoting the 'First Night' thing, as if it actually happened, which, for anyone in doubt, it didn't.

Objectively, I think we'd all be better off together. And for what it's worth, I've a lot more in common with a Scottish working-class person than I will ever have with Cameron, the Queen, or the Duke of Devonshire. But I can only see trouble ahead now, either way.

Anyway, it's up to the people of Scotland via their votes. There's nothing any of us can do unless we are one of them. I just hope their heads rule their hearts and emotions.

Just been talking to a Glaswegian lad (could hardly understand him, really broad) but he reckons, he was totally serious when he said it, that the Celtic fans will vote "Yes" to piss the Rangers fans off and vice versa, I quote "that's huw fuckin sad they cunts are, de ye ken"

Who said politics is a serious business!

A popular yank website went out and asked some Americans about this issue.

Many didn't seem to have a clue but a few across the big pond actually knew the state of politics and spoke the truth.

I liked this chicks view, seems more accurate:

Transcript: “Personally I believe Scotland should be its own independent country but due to the nuclear reactors in Scotland that are owned by England and those can’t be moved into England because there isn’t enough room, they probably won’t be independent anytime soon. Also if you know anything about politics in general it’s not going to happen if the politicians in parliament don’t want it to (which they don’t).”
