So if it's a no result can Alex Salmond be tried for treason? The crime of treason is the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill or overthrow the sovereign or government.

Sounds like he ticks all the boxes' to me.

Just saying:-)

Good point, last scotsperson tried for treason was by a queen called Elizabeth, history repeating itself?...
Alex Salmonds not a Queen is he, come to think of it could explain all the skirt wearing.

You do realise that Alex's middle name is Mary? He was named after the hobbit in Tolkien's book...

Fucking hell, it's all kicking off, loads of short angry men going for it.

Oh wait a minute I'm watching enter the dragon...

Clackmannanshire is the most Scottish sounding name in the world. Alex Salmond already throwing his toys out of the pram, cancelled his appearance at Aberdeen tonight.

Hmm.. 10 cases of suspected fraud in Glasgow and Dundee counting been evacuated twice because the fire alarm was pulled.

If they vote No then big changes will need to be made. The fact that up to 2 million people would vote to leave the Union says how bad things are. We need further devolution. Either that of millions of bitter Scots from here onward.

They have to be careful though because if they give the Scots too much then people in England and Wales and NI will complain that they are getting more than their fair share and the whole thing will just kick off.

No, we need a change in the constitutional structure of the UK. Scottish MPs voting on English affairs is intolerable. The constitution is fundamentally unbalanced and needs changing quite substantially. The Westminster Parliament is caricatured as being English, when the English are the ones with the democratic deficit while every other other constituent country has an assembly.

That rebalancing is essential for Scotland as much as anywhere else. It's created the politics of resentment all round. And it's not healthy.

''politics of resentment'' is that another glib phrase from tory HQ , like ''politics of envy''?
