Exactly. They are still part of the UK,so if they are playing the democracy/will of the people card, then the WHOLE OF THE UK can vote on the issue, just like we did in the GE.Can the English have a vote. I would vote for their independence too.
That would have been like asking the EU to vote in the brexit referendumExactly. They are still part of the UK,so if they are playing the democracy/will of the people card, then the WHOLE OF THE UK can vote on the issue, just like we did in the GE.
Well the last time I looked Scotland was still a part of the UK, and agreed to stay as part of the UK as recently as 2014.
Once in a generation means every 20/25 years so there is no legal obligation to keep giving a referendum just because the SNP won a few extra seats in a GE.
They hold no type of power or influence in the UK Parliament(like the DUP) their constant bleating about independence is an embarrassment to be honest.
Not really, the EU has only existed for 60 years, and is being expanded all the time,so more and more smallish East European nations are getting influence over EU affairs. It is a trading block, not a sovereign state. That would have been like asking the EU to vote in the brexit referendum
As I said when I bumped this thread, you dream on about independence and don't forget to shut the door when you leave. Which will be in about 20 years time.In 2014 one of the factors was EU membership. In 2016 we moved the goalposts.
I also love the contrast in our ‘stirring fight for independence from the EU’, a decision entirely in our own hands, to the Scots and ‘their constant bleating about independence’, a decision which rests in the hands of another country.
Makes you wonder what the U in UK stands for?
Seemed to have bumped it because of a flag, like it matters or anyone cares. As I said when I bumped this thread, you dream on about independence and don't forget to shut the door when you leave. Which will be in about 20 years time.

The UK has been a Union of 4 independent nations for over 300 years, and has not added any other nations to the Union in that time.
The principle is exactly the same, the length of time is not really relevantNot really, the EU has only existed for 60 years, and is being expanded all the time,so more and more smallish East European nations are getting influence over EU affairs. It is a trading block, not a sovereign state.
