This whole thing is fucked anyway. According to teachers I know, a huge percentage of kids are still coming into school anyway because everyone and anyone is considered a key worker under the government guidelines. As long as that's allowed to happen this isn't going anywhere. FiL contracted Covid that almost hospitalised him at work, doing a job that isn't remotely essential.
It's not a simple case of "footballers think they're better than everyone else". It's about the regular people- working class people, lots of them- that can and will lose their jobs. And there's plenty of value in entertainment, especially in a world where TV and film have mostly shut down.
