A hundred per club? Doesn't sound right...

This whole thing is fucked anyway. According to teachers I know, a huge percentage of kids are still coming into school anyway because everyone and anyone is considered a key worker under the government guidelines. As long as that's allowed to happen this isn't going anywhere. FiL contracted Covid that almost hospitalised him at work, doing a job that isn't remotely essential.

It's not a simple case of "footballers think they're better than everyone else". It's about the regular people- working class people, lots of them- that can and will lose their jobs. And there's plenty of value in entertainment, especially in a world where TV and film have mostly shut down.

No amount of money will help the NHS right now. What they need right now is less people turning up at hospital.
The fastest way to achieve that is to give it to those who are most at risk of needing to go to hospital with it.
As more people at risk get the vaccine, the less demand on the NHS.

Footballers are NOT risking theirs lives to play for us. Just as me going to work tomorrow isn't either.
Footballers are the least likely to be effected with Covid. They are also tested and treated much faster than the rest of us.

My feeling is that the question of whether football club staff should get the vaccine or not should depend on the factors causing the bottleneck.

If the NHS have capacity to use all the available doses to vaccinate the vulnerable then that is what they should be used for.

If a situation was reached where the bottleneck was the availability of admin and medical staff to organise appointments and inject the vaccine and doses were being stockpiled then I would be ok with club's own medical staff vaccinating the players, coaches etc. Maybe in exchange for this permission those medical staff could help vaccinate members of the public.

My understanding is that vaccine supply is currently the issue but I would expect this to change within a couple of months.

I know they should be down the line but .........how many people are they keeping mentally stable by playing ?????
it’s not just about COVID it’s about a whole range of illnesses......... mental illness being on of them and if keeping football keeps hundreds of thousands from going into depression then they should get it

life is pretty poor at the moment and football and other entertainment industries are making it that bit bearable

I really dislike this attitude. They are risking their families lives and many of the staff are risking their lives. Roy Hodgson isn't a 20 year old elite athlete, nor are many of the people involved in keeping the Premier League show on the road for your entertainment.

Why how many have died?
Also, "they" are putting their families health at risk by deciding to play on. They have always had the option to refuse, but most haven't. There are players who have decided they will not risk family members and have withdrawn. Roy Hodgson should maybe do the same.
They are putting the show on for money reasons, and i wouldn't be bothered if we had a pause.
I would put their health above my own entertainment anyday.

Therefore they are not some kind of heroes for doing this. They have weighed up the risks and decided they are acceptable. Same as me in my job.
However, i have family members who actually work on Covid wards. They are doing a job no one else wants, but they do it anyway.
They ARE putting their families at severe risk every day for shit money and poor conditions.
They are actually heroes and your attitude needs adjusting if you don't see the difference.
