Season Summary - 2024/25

We were due a down season after 4 in a row, a treble and our first CL.

Add Rodri’s absence, the main heads becoming too old at the same time, pure injuries and one or two being disinterested, there was no way we were going to reach anywhere near our usual levels.

To finish 3rd and reach the cup final in that context shows just how powerful this club has become.

Feels very much like the end of an era. Kev gone, Gundogan probably should, Walker too old, Stones can’t stay fit for 5 minutes, Grealish in the naughty corner, Ederson not arsed anymore.

Rebuild incoming.

Another version of a Pep team to look forward to.

We need that get this window spot on if we want to start a new era of success and have some new heroes to worship.
Ederson has done pretty well for a keeper who's not arsed anymore

I hope ederson stays but his attitude this season like many sucked. Maybe he has changed his mind as that display today was top notch. Either way another situation that needs resolved.

Injuries.

Just beset by injuries. That defined our season and was a constant throughout. I don't think even Ederson was safe.

When compared to poor seasons for other teams, especially in recent times, we can't be too upset with third place.

Frustrating to lose a Cup Final that the players should have won with the chances they had.

However, overall, people can bring up injuries which of course play a part but the tactics and actual football played for the vast majority of the season was absolutely shite. We were actually 'boring, boring City' so going forward into next season I know we'll have the likes of Rodri back but something else needs to change or we'll be much the same in my opinion.

It wasn't a growing pains kinda season like Pep's first, when you could see the intention and the vision going forward. This was pretty much running out of ideas so a good break for everyone is needed, hopefully they can get one.

Free pass for me this season.

The stress of 4 years of "must win" games took its inevitable toll.

4 years chasing titles/doubles/trebles and Champions League success took its toll on the pitch, on the coaching staff and in the stadium.

4 years of flogging players to death, with over 50 games a season, took its toll with key injuries to key players.

4 years of our fans travelling all over Europe, following our Club inevitably going deep into all competitions, at ever increasing cost, took its toll.

So, written off and we go again.

The challenge to win back the PL trophy and take on Europe has been set. The jeopardy will lift the atmosphere, as seen recently at home. Our away fans will do the job as we always do. The players will get their hunger back with fresh faces and the returns from injury. A new legacy to chase.

Bring it fucking on.

Up the fucking Blues.

So City are the best team in the league since the turn of the year which coincides with the 2nd half of the season....
The league recovery has been brilliant since the W1 D2 L9 all comps disaster in November and December.

Since Jan 1st:

1st - Points
1st - Goals Scored
2nd - Goals conceded
1st - Goal Difference
1st - Wins

Obviously no where near our best but what a wonderful base to kick-on next season.

Pep deserves all the credit in the world for the turnround albeit very dogged at times particularly away from home.

Something like the dippers would be bragging about. Hell they'd even be looking for a trophy for being the best team since January.Dippers checked out ages ago as did Arsenal when they couldn't catch them. October to January we'd probably have been bottom 4.

From losing to spuds at the end of October we were in free fall till end of March when we beat them. We all know why our form nosedived but it seemed getting beat was on the cards every game at one point.

When you consider we've 'only' finished 13 points behind Liverpool for the disappointing season we've endured it's commendable we've finished 3rd. Had we not had Rodri out all season we'd have definitely finished above Arsenal and given Liverpool a battle. And had several players been fit or in form we'd have retained the title. Not arsed we got dumped out of Europe, was a blessing in disguise.

Slightly disappointed Palace won the FA cup but they deserved it. Happy we qualified for CL so that has cheered most of us up.
Not too bothered about winning CWC but we may as well give our best shot and see how far we go. Just hope we can sign quality players this summer who can enhance the squad and make the difference to trying to get us back as champions.

Ended better than we thought it would for most parts but robbed of the FA Cup!

A hangover from Gundo, the treble, then four in a row. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. To rescue third place and show signs of being on the up again is quite an achievement. Hopefully we get cleared of the 115 soon.

The utter mess down the road is a joy to behold.
Hopefully, we get cleared of the 115 soon. THIS

When we take the horror show of mid season into consideration then
finishing third is a decent effort. Just looking back at some of the line ups for example Spuds at home and Arsenal away make me wonder wtf Pep was thinking. If we get a fully fit Rodri back that will make a huge difference but we can’t play him every game so need to work that bit out. I’d love it if we could retain the CWC, no other English club have done that, so another first. We also need to put this FFP, PSR, stitch up to bed.

Already looking forward to the CWC and next season!

Not what I expected, but, in the end, it could have been much much worse... still a hell-of-a-sight better than watching Jamie Pollock putting the ball into his own net as we headed for league 2!
I always thought that JP goal was unique and was pleased to have witnessed it from my seat in the Kippax ;). However I’m sure there was a similar one I have seen on YouTube recently , may have been when Leeds won at Sheff Utd in 92.

we wobbled pre christmas for 7 weeks and it cost us

nowt else to say, cups are a lucky dip always have been
