Do not understand how any fan can be priced out.
Okay not ideal if your seat is now too expensive but you can easily move to a seat within your budget.
I know around 30 people who’ve given up there seasoncard, going back to around 2005. Two through I’ll health and two who came back when the cheap tickets came out. So in all about two dozen proper fans people who have stopped going because of price increases. Some of these lads were proper home and away every single game fans at one time or another.
There used to be a tribe of us out for home games, now there’s between 2 and 5 of us.
A £25 price increase isn’t much money. However when it goes with a £50, £50, £60, £75, £65, £35 and a £20 increase that we’ve seen over eight of the last nine years, it’s very easy to be priced out as that justification of what was once £450 that is now £820 is impossible to pay. It’s not the individual increases, it’s the accumulation.
There aren’t enough cheap tickets to go round everyone that would want one. So it’s not a case of just moving to a cheaper area. Especially for those who sit with mates like I do. I’d be a bit gutted to go and sit on my own somewhere just because it would be cheaper and leave the lads I sit with.
I know a few lads who get round it by having two seasoncards and there being five of them that use it and they go to random games between them.
But it’s not even the cost of the increases, it’s the principal. What the fuck do the club need around £1m for that they nudge the prices up for? Because that’s all it earns them.
