Seasoncard Amnesty

Don't understand why people are getting so upset about photo id ,its my driving licence, its on my passport, its on my work id,its on my forklift licence christ the only thing its not on is my season ticket and if it needs to go on there fair enough, but there again I very rarely miss a match

I agree mate. I’m pretty sure I had photo ID on my membership card to get a ticket Vs Gillingham at Wembley. It’s not a massive deal.

I

I’ve got my photo on my Costco card. If I didn’t want the opportunity to buy a 80 inch TV and a jumbo sized multi pack of baked beans I wouldn’t be a member. The same applies to going to the footy. If I want to go I’ll follow the rules. If I don’t like the rules I won’t go. No point moaning about it in the middle of a pandemic when there’s more important things to worry about like not getting infected and passing it on to someone vulnerable. If having to prove my ID on the way in helps it’s a small price to pay as far as I’m concerned.

Point 1 could be really used to people's advantage and give mega points to certain people, for example we have a lapsed season ticket holder who has 15k points and another with 20k who is contemplating giving up if I am reading point 1 correct the lapsed season ticket holder could take the others season ticket and have combined points of 35k which would under the current conditions get them tickets for every big game for next few 10 years. Hopefully this has been noted by CM and City as it would be farcical.
It would be and it has been noted. My personal view is that people should not be allowed to transfer their card to another seasoncard holder.

Nothing.

2 things.

1. We live in a free society not a police state. And
2. There's a big difference between confirming your identity upon request, for ticket collection purposes and having a mandatory photo on a season ticket which means it then cannot be shared.

Photo ID isn't about being covid compliant which is being implied.

if its just to be compliant for covid then im all for it. If its to stop ticket touting. Then i am all for it. if its just to keep track of supporters then i dont like the idea

Not at all. I didn't say they've decided to, I said they're considering it. Transferring names is understandable, but proving who has earned what points is difficult. So they shouldn't be allowed.
I know someone who changed the name on a seasoncard that had a lot of points, they didn't get to keep any of those points, which was right.
The opinion of not transferring points, but transferring names is the safest option, otherwise it's open to manipulation.
I believe that what you've described, which is what I had as Option 6, is the club's standard approach to this scenario normally. However these aren't normal circumstances and although we were planning to have a seasoncard amnesty anyway, the club's primary concern in these circumstances is to have accurate contact details for all ticketholders. But if all you'd be getting is 1,000 points if you're curently using a ticket that has 20k points on it, the chances are you're not going to do that, thereby impacting the club's need to have that current data.

So we need to maximise the conversion rate, which is what the club wants and therefore might involve having to give people some incentive to do that. But they might equally well decide to enforce the normal rule of 1,000 points only, so as not to upset others who have gone down that route and take the risk that people choose not to transfer but the people take the risk of not attending a game for the foreseeable future. They will have to eventually decide, hopefully with input from us, what suits their needs best, rather than what might upset someone on Bluemoon.

There is no simple answer to this that will suit everyone and I think most people understand this.

Exactly this. If using ID is the best solution then I would have no issue at all accepting it.

Quite rightly if the club does not take the correct steps, to implement track and trace, and god forbid, their is an outbreak linked to the stadium, they would be roundly criticised.

For those seeking further info from the club there are so many variables currently and so many elements to consider.

Capacity will not be determined by an arbitary figure based on current capacity, but a full assessment will be required of the stadium, including concourse size, stair widths, determining allocations of seats to different group sizes, latest guidance on social bubbles and even an agreement on which methodoly to be used to determine, for example 1 metre social distancing, one requires a ‘safe area’ of 0.8m sq and the other 1.6m sq. And of course these assessments can alter instantly as the Government changes tack.

Without doubt there is no way of satisfying everyone. If the club really does feel that transferring points is necessary, maybe a review on how this would affect other fans would be required. For example, somebody usually qualifies for away tickets on the 2nd day of sales, suddenly drops to the 4th day, reducing the possibility of getting tickets. That's unfair on someone who's earned their points legitimately. I'm not sure if the club have the data or capabilities to level it out.
However, if after the amnesty, the impact is minimal, then that's a plus.
It sounds trivial at the moment, considering what else is going on. But whatever they opt for should be fair to everyone in the long term.

Question
Me and my mate both live in the South, we have shared a Seasoncard for a decade. It's in my name, so is he now screwed, cos it's my name on the ticket, and ambition screwed cos I can't afford 19+ trips to Manchester with days off work etc ??

The club already let's us sell 5 games back on the official site, maybe they could consider extending that
