Seasoncard Renewals 2017/18

Sorry but all of your recent posts are coming across as bitter & twisted, I'm sorry that you're struggling financially but I'm fairly certain that that is not down to City or football in general. Do you want free season tickets from the government for all those on JSA or benefits?

The principle of what he's saying is bang on.

It's sod all to do with a £10 increase. If you cannot afford an extra £1 a month to the DD scheme then you should probably spend the ST money elsewhere.

It's the fact that the fans are yet again the ones who are ignored. I see this record breaking TV deal increase the price of average players, raise wages and agent fees but fuck all is given back to the people who put the effort into following their team.

If the club are that arsed about covering the price of running costs then they should get rid of the useless shite who sanctioned the signings of Bony, Bravo and Mangala.

The money this club is wasting paying excess wages to players out on loan is staggering. There's not a chance Valencia, Torino and Stoke will be paying all of their wages!

The increase shows the fans exactly what the club thinks of them.

I honestly didn't know that some have had that level of increase. So nearly 100% increase in 10 years. Wow. 7% pa compounded. If mine had gone up that much I certainly wouldn't be happy.

IIRC, the first full season after the takeover the club slightly reduced seasoncard prices - I think the credit crunch had something to do with that - and mine cost £388 in 2009/10 then £405 in 2010/11. Next season it will be £615 (or £665 for platinum), an increase of over 50% since we won the FA Cup in 2011.

I have not been affected by the ticket increase fortunately but completely agree it's not just the ticket rises individually but the whole direction of which the club is going.

More and more we see the better seats in the house being taken over by corporate groups, tunnel club, seats which were previously enjoyed by your average fan who have since been relocated. Away allocations, for the more desirable matches, dwindling to service corporate fans, boat jaunts on the Thames etc.

Even the construction of South Stand Level 3 which seemed a positive move I now view suspiciously as just the clubs way of moving those who require cheaper seats further from the action and then inflate the price of ticket they vacate to those with more disposable income.

Leaving that stand on match days is a depressing affair. Due to the lack of exits those at the back wait an age to vacate and become part of the crush on the stairway, followed by similar crushes through the fire foors and then onto the stairwells. The scenery consists of layers of plasterboard with the Fire Certificate stickers still visible as the club has not even bothered to go to the expense of a lick of paint. Contrast this to 'tunnel club' and you can see where the clubs priorities are.

The club is on a path alien to the wishes of the majority, and for me, if success comes at a cost which results in those who deserve to enjoy it being priced out it's too high a cost.

Here's a novel idea, I won't charge the club for it, or ask them to put it out to tender to some multi-national fucking faceless corporate entity.

Offer a proper rewards scheme.

Money comes off the cost of next year's season-ticket (say £2 a time) over 18 games - that's £36 - should that season-ticket be registered as being actually used at a game?

Same can apply to Cup games for those on schemes.

So you wish to punish fans who are already being punished by the changes of scheduling to the fixture list?

Many of those people will be true blues who continue attending and paying money out to the club even though they live 100s of miles away.

I miss weekday matches as it's a 500 mile round trip and a day off work and cannot justify it for all the matches. The constant changes in scheduling is punishment enough as it means I pay more per match attended. Christ you should get a job at City you would fit right in.

Not so much being punished. Just not rewarded in the same way as someone has a better attendance. I'd make it more than £2 though as that is fairly meaningless to most.

" its only 15 quid"
" thats the price of success"
" would you rather be in division 3 "

these are the usual responses.. its clear city are pricing out fans and chasing the corporates. 50 % increase under this owner ship. i could have sworn they said they cared about the fans ? In a weird way I'm hoping theres more empty seats then ever next year and more people drop out of the cup schemes/platinum

I'm fully against any increase in ticket costs. I believe we're already at the limit of what is acceptable, reasonable and affordable to the average person.
Good post. I've not quoted it all but wanted to highlight this bit. In 2014/15, we had a reduced capacity of 44k due to the construction work for SS3 and reported match-day income of £43.3m. So that's just under £1,000 per available seat. We played 27 games so that's just less than £36.50 per seat per game. However 4 of those games were in the first two rounds of both the domestic cups so revenue was likely relatively low for these games.

Last season we reported £53.3m on a capacity of 54k, which again is just under £1,000 per available seat, despite the fact we'd uppped prices again for that season. We played 28 home games so that's £35.25 per game. Yet we'd introduced Joe's/93:20 at premium prices and played a League Cup semi-final and final plus two additional CL games for which they charged top whack. So I'd have expected much nearer to £40 per game on average and that's what I budgeted for when I did my estimated accounts for that season (which was £60m against an actual £53.3m). So despite a general increase, an increase in premium capacity and a better mix of games from a revenue point of view we didn't achieve the expected revenue levels we should have.

That suggests to me we've reached or even passed saturation point in terms of demand and pricing, which makes any increase totally baffling.

Not particularly no as then I presume my Tax contributions which come from my Salary will increase and I'd rather extra monetary resources be spent on NHS/Policing.

As for the way I'm coming across, you are right - I am bitter about this issue as I've been priced out of the 'club' I've been following for over 30yrs (first known match according to parents was in 1985)

Me at 7... I haven't just flown in on an Etihad flight and visited the stadium to wave a little.

Still I got my hands on this

And have to thank the Al Nahyan Family for that.
