Seat Counters - 2024/25

I don’t blame people for that. People want to keep Wembley special for the final because that’s how it should be.

The only reason I go to semis is because I don’t want to have an embarrassing attendance (like my one ticket makes a difference haha), but i don’t agree with a single thing about the semis being at Wembley and I have no problem with anyone who refuses to go.

I know a fella who I thought was mad when he refused to go to the 2011 semi against the Rags, yet he’s never been to any semi at Wembley and I now see he was right all along.

The semis should not be at Wembley. It takes the shine off the final. Especially when two Northern teams or two teams like City and Forest could use Old Trafford which would be much better for both sets of fans.
Said elsewhere Sheffield either ground would have been perfect for both sets of fans. Midway between both City's with regular train links, Bramhall Lane a ten minute walk from the station. City fans are Wembleyed to death and I regret to say think it likely Forest will be back for the final in May. Would rather no Wembley semis but can understand when two London teams involved. 2011 has to be the prime example of stupidity when four North West teams had to bring their fans down there. When will football authorities start to consider supporters and restore the integrity of the FA cup.

I don't think it's much worse at this point than it was last season against Chelsea, and we ended up selling around 36,000 for that one. Non-season ticket holders will take up a lot of the slack.
I can't remember. I hope so. Non-season ticket holders have been growing as a group.

How does this compare to previous seasons?
I think we're slightly behind where we were for last seasons semi final vs Chelsea. After the 4,000 point drop last season there were 19,000 seats left, however the whole end was on sale at this point, which means we'd have sold around 15k this time last year, compared to around 11k this year (Similar to the Sheffield Semi Final).

The Sheffield Semi Final sold 31k overall, and Chelsea Semi Final Sold Out, so I'd expect to be somewhere in between these. People need to stop worrying that we'll only take 20k, its not gonna happen.

Agree with the idea , but unfortunately Bramall Lane capacity is only 32k and Hillsborough 34k so there would only 16/17 K tkts available for each team.

I agree with most that semis should not be at Wembley at all.
I am goin this year though as a feel we might struggle against Forset and a day out at Wembley for me an my lad is at least a small reward for a tough season following our beloved blues.

Most fans hardly ever do an away game and the odd trip to wembley is too much hassle for
I tend to agree with most of your posts. If we’re being honest our support in general has gone sterile and thousands of fans have simply lost the passion . Obviously there’s many factors being priced out, apathy with the club, pining for the old matchday experience, lost the habit of going games and being spoilt with success and the FFP debacle.
It’s worrying and depressing we have got to this state. A good barometer for me is the amount of us who used to go Wembley in our group , we used to stay over and regular have about 15 of us, Lucky to get 3 of us these days and it’s the same with home games. Most of the younger lads I used to go with can’t be arsed anymore , they have young families to raise and have filled the void of football with something else. Each to their own I suppose.
Is it the price of success? or the current climate of todays generation .
When you look at the Geordies, Leeds, VIlla, Everton to name a few they still seem to have the hardcore support in their droves and I reckon it would still be the same if they had a decade of success. I know the counter argument of most of these teams (especially Villa) is they were struggling to fill the stadium when times were hard and Newcastle and Leeds are a 1 club City but the atmosphere generated from these clubs is something we can only pine for at the minute
Tin hat firmly on!

City have 37k seasoncard holders and 140,000 match-day members.

Once every one of those seasoncard holders would have gone. Now we've been about 25 times in about 15 years. Wembley semi-finals, and finals remain the highlight of the season for me. I like being part of an army descending on London and experiencing the' anticipation.

On Monday it opens to fans who have been to 4,3,2 FA Cup fixtures since the start of season 2022/23. I don't think I've seen City do that before.
This is the link for last season against Chelsea - they did 3 FA Cup fixtures and then dropped it to zero so it's more staggered this time:

I strongly suspect that if you surveyed fans of every club in the league and took the majority view from each, that City fans would be in a very small minority, possible of one, who would rather have FA Cup semis at a 30 odd thousand localish ground than Wembley.

Remember the campaign for semis initially being played at Wembley was fan led and against what the FA wanted.

There certainly won’t ever be another semi at Hillsborough either.

Even in these times of away fans and tourists taking over blocks for Champs League games, the core of our support remains fairly local. I'm sure I read a study once that the geographical position of Manc and climate - fewer days of sunshine, lots of rain - genuinely affects mood and mental health in the city (lack of vitamin D etc). Part of the reason I eventually moved south!

Factor in how economically depressed large parts of Manc still are beyond the bright lights of Ancoats, Chorlton and Didsbury - particularly the east, around and beyond the Etihad, and it's not hard to see why we have such a pessimistic core fanbase, particularly as economic outcomes go hand in hand with educational ones. I've lost count of times that even in the very best times for City as we're taking everyone to the cleaners, I'm surrounded by tired looking blokes with bald heads shouting "fastoh" as we rondo around the midfield.

TL,DR: The core of our fanbase are pre-disposed to pessimism and not educated enough to understand some of our more complex tactics. No wonder they're getting a bit fed up...

He wasn't on that occasion.

It was one of the biggest games and most important moments in the history of the club.

And both those stadiums are total shitholes in any event. The train service is dire. Crammed in like sardines there and back and that's when we only take 3000 there.

We need to recreate the buzz, it's as simple as that, winning the treble and then using it as an excuse not to get excited about anything that follows is pathetic. My mindset is let's win a trophy and salvage the season, losing the cup last year royally pissed me off. We will sell loads next week, but season ticket holders should be the core of your support, we seem to have become the Fulham of the north
