Seat Counters - 2024/25

IIRC City were one of the last clubs to get involved with that super league crap.
We may well have been, and we as a fanbase gave the club the benefit of the doubt at the time. However, judging by everything they’ve done since, I think that was naive of us. They would be balls deep in a super league if it got off the ground, it would be Soriano’s wet dream I’m afraid.

For an away match, where the club receives 3000 tickets approximately 20% of the tickets are allocated to the club to give to staff/players, corporate and affiliated travel partners.
That is 600 tickets that are being issued to various people outside of the loyalty points scheme and the supporters clubs.
It is this group of tickets that the majority of supporters have a problem with .

If Swales was still in charge I'd go along with this. As it stands I believe the away tickets that end up online come from the tickets that the corporates buy. The club plays no part in it.
I'm of the opinion that you're half-right and half-wrong on that. No doubt some tickets bought by corporate end up on third party resale sites but I also think the club are farming some out as well. You only have to look at what percentage of away tickets go on sale to points holders on the first morning an away game goes on sale to see that bigger numbers of tickets are being siphoned off for the more high profile games. Unless the club are giving a bigger percentage to corporate for those games but why would they do that and deny points holders the chance to buy them if they (the club) are not getting anything out of it themselves?

Now there was a rumour doing the rounds last week that Sportsworld got 600 tickets for Liverpool away the other week. I stress that it's a rumour and I'll also stress that I happen to think that that figure is grossly exaggerated. However, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if there's some truth to it. Why? Well, firstly the away end was full of tourists and I doubt the original source of every single one of those tickets was from the allocation given to corporate. Secondly, Sportsworld are City's official travel partner for European away games and I can't see Sportsworld making too much profit flying a plane load of blues over to Turin at £350 a pop for our game there last night so you would have to think that there would be something more in it for them. So why not give them some Liverpool away tickets on the quiet which they can make a far bigger profit on per ticket than they do per flight for Juventus away?

If City do indeed play no part in it then they should have absolutely no issue with being totally transparent regarding away tickets and telling us the breakdown.

You are assuming that the club actually gives 60% to points and 20% to OSC. I think it's been proved on here that for many games the percentage given to points has been around 40%, so even if OSC take 20% that's 40% (1,200 tickets that are distributed). Do we begrudge a player's mum and dad being given tickets, no we don't. Do we begrudge the CFA admin person who supports A N Other FC who has a friend who knows a bloke who once worked with Roy Bailey being given two tickets for an away day, yes we do.

I know one ex player whose dad made and continues to make a nice little bit of £ from his son’s tickets. For both club and country.
You can take the boy (and his dad) out of Wythenshawe…
