Seat Counters - 2024/25

Where’s it at tomorrow mate?

At Wythenshawe Town tomorrow mate.

£10 pay on the gate, cash or card. 3pm KO.

A good chance for local fans of bigger clubs to see a bit of non league football on a bank holiday.

Just thought I’d add for anyone considering coming along.

Just a few minutes walk from Moor Road and Baguley tram stops on the Airport line.

20.31 train gets to Piccadilly at 22.44. Which is pretty similar to the time you'd get there from the Etihad after a midweek game.
Unless your driving the train you can get a couple of hours sleep. Probably the same at Wembley if it's anything like our last couple of away games
Anyone would be taking a chance booking on that with the possibility of ET and Pens!

Knowing how long it takes to get out and on to a train or tube after the match you'd be stressed and hoping to make it.

Might have more chance getting the Tube to Watford but then you would risk not being allowed on if the train is full and standing!

Throw in the train ticket you would need to buy, probably an open return ( more expensive) because you couldn't guarantee making that train.

If you did make it, you are still only stuck at Piccadilly near 2300 on a Sunday night with the probable need to get a Taxi or your car, having paid a fortune to park it all day.

That 90 minutes may not seem like much but it severely limits travel options home.

What looks good and achievable on paper (or more likely online) is far from straightforward and will cost a fortune for a thoroughly miserable and expensive day.

As I say, most people like to make a day of it. It may include a drink or whatever else people like to do.

Just making your way straight to the match and straight home with your sandwiches is boring as fuck, (not that it is easy to do) and still costing you the best part of £150.00.

If you’ve got a valid train ticket back to Manchester, no one is bothered which one you get on.

In fact I’ve seen the police at Euston practically physically dragging fans onto a train about to leave, as they tried explaining that they’re booked on a later one. They just want you gone.

Also worth baring in mind for those worried about extra time and pens. That previously they’ve had unadvertised trains on standby, ready to go if there’s large numbers of fans who’ve missed the last scheduled train.

Weekends are off peak so you can get any train but probably not get a seat.

Too late for this game now I imagine but in the past we’ve just bought the cheapest tickets for a specific train on the evening of the game and always just jumped on the first train that comes after the game, no problem.

I realise no two seasons are comparable, but anyone know how many we sold for the Sheffield Utd semi a few years back?

Wythenshawe got 1200?

Where do they play, near Tesco's in Baguley?
That’s Wythenshawe Town who play next to Tesco.

Wythenshawe play on Hollyhedge Park, on the Altrincham Rd end of it.

On Boxing Day, we were at home to Everton and didn’t sell out because it was too expensive for many. It was also the Wythenshawe derby and 1,200 attended it, including five of my mates.

They don’t get that every game, mind. Their average is 406.

Depends on the Sandwiches.

Choose a quality wholegrain bread, Strong cheese, pickle, a little onion and Mustard. Complement with a carafe of Rioja.
Nice Park, Podcast of your choice, New York cheesecake for afters, bootiful.

That is a good sandwich ;-)
