Seat Counters - 2024/25

Even in these times of away fans and tourists taking over blocks for Champs League games, the core of our support remains fairly local. I'm sure I read a study once that the geographical position of Manc and climate - fewer days of sunshine, lots of rain - genuinely affects mood and mental health in the city (lack of vitamin D etc). Part of the reason I eventually moved south!

Factor in how economically depressed large parts of Manc still are beyond the bright lights of Ancoats, Chorlton and Didsbury - particularly the east, around and beyond the Etihad, and it's not hard to see why we have such a pessimistic core fanbase, particularly as economic outcomes go hand in hand with educational ones. I've lost count of times that even in the very best times for City as we're taking everyone to the cleaners, I'm surrounded by tired looking blokes with bald heads shouting "fastoh" as we rondo around the midfield.

TL,DR: The core of our fanbase are pre-disposed to pessimism and not educated enough to understand some of our more complex tactics. No wonder they're getting a bit fed up...
WTF are you .
You're the one sounding pessimistic.
You cheeky sod .
An East Manc where we were born " beyond the etihad "

Yes but the FA go along with it Fucking Arseholes.
The FA will have little or no say in what times the games kick off - the broadcasters' contracts will give them autonomy in deciding that. Only the police and/or local authorities have the power to intervene as was the case with the last two finals.

I strongly suspect that if you surveyed fans of every club in the league and took the majority view from each, that City fans would be in a very small minority, possible of one, who would rather have FA Cup semis at a 30 odd thousand localish ground than Wembley.

Remember the campaign for semis initially being played at Wembley was fan led and against what the FA wanted.

There certainly won’t ever be another semi at Hillsborough either.
Wasn’t that Forest’s last semi? Can remember it like it was yesterday as we trudged out of Ewood park

I think we're slightly behind where we were for last seasons semi final vs Chelsea. After the 4,000 point drop last season there were 19,000 seats left, however the whole end was on sale at this point, which means we'd have sold around 15k this time last year, compared to around 11k this year (Similar to the Sheffield Semi Final).

The Sheffield Semi Final sold 31k overall, and Chelsea Semi Final Sold Out, so I'd expect to be somewhere in between these. People need to stop worrying that we'll only take 20k, its not gonna happen.
It could be our last season of visits for some time as well realistically so i think we need a big push..Im sure were all fed up of 'no fans' BS..and meeja panning round to empty seats (as though were the only club with them). Forest will sell all there's out of course..meaning....

Not quite. They lost that final to Tottenham in the early 90s, where Gascoigne pretty much ended his own career as an elite player.

Right about the Blackburn game though. Went from a great day out, to a shit day, to who even gives a fuck about football anymore, all in the space of a couple of hours.

we sold a lot more than 31000 v sheffield united, the crowd was just shy of 70000 and the Blades end had thousands less than City, i would have said we were nearer 35000, if we have only sold 11000, it would appear probably only 6/7000 tickets have sold to season ticket holders, with the balance made up by supporters clubs, very very poor

You cannot buy experience
It's like having a 30 year old David Silva in your team from kick off.

I don’t agree with this at all. I think the vast majority of fans of all clubs would prefer the old neutral ground method. I’ve literally never talked to a fan of any club in person or online who didn’t think this.

Me too,it stinks,belittles the final.
maybe it's our age , i remember my dad talking to me as a nipper when he went
to villa park park with my grandad for the semi final v everton in 69,it's how it should be imho.
I always thought the semi's going to wembley began when tott played arse, and they requested it through
demand back in the early 90's.
anyway,my last semi final attendence was v arse in i think 2019 ,when they robbed us by disallowing the goal from the corner we scored, saying it had swung out,but it hadn't.

That semi at Villa Park was a great day out. When we scored I ended up a third of the way down the stand from where I had been stood.

I'm going but i think it will be hard slog to sell out this time around. Some never go to Semi Final but always go to Final. Sunday and 4.30pm K.O.
will stop a significant % attending. Opponent is
Forest not usual Top 4 or Rags. Poor form and poor performances this season will deter a certain % as some will feel we will lose. I think some who attended the Final last year felt shortchanged by teams performance and especially as it was versus rags and maybe that niggles a bit still, so maybe miss this one out, although would of course still attend a Final, if we got thru. Finally, there's the "Haaland Effect". He's definitely not taking part so that may impact another %. I think it will be down to the number of members who wouldn't normally
qualify when majority of negative factors above
haven't applied previously, seizing opportunity to
either just get a ticket or on this occasion maybe
getting a seat of their choice, rather than what's been left previously.

16:30 Sunday ko is the factor and only factor to why a lot won't be going.

No alarm bells ringing, just working class fans watching the pennies and the inconvenience of getting home before work, school etc on Monday.
Exactly. Alarm bells to the club and FA who will be fully aware and have full access to these sort of statistics. Football is for tourists not the working class hard core fan these days.

To be fair, 31,000 is just the number I've heard floating around on here, I'm happy to be wrong on that. We'll have to see what the next few days bring, Monday/Tuesday have the potential to be all time classic seat counting days!

Until they can't get a ticket then the cry would be " why aren't the semi's at Wembley"?
