The main factor for me in deciding to go to night matches is:I’ve given 4 tickets away since yesterday mate. There just isn’t the demand for tickets for the midweek games like there used to be. It’s inconvenient - particularly for Blues travelling a long distances - and some fans have had enough success to last a lifetime.
Mates from Wales and Yorkshire just can’t get there tonight but have been very generous with their tickets.
I see the FG’s as mainly for young families. City have to come up with more innovative ways of selling empty seats.
True mate. Some of our smallest crowds at the Wtihad have come in the week before Wembley.
BTW I’ve gone for the £30 tickets and £40 coach for Wembley.
The mythical August "sell outs" for all City home games.Virtually every match was sold out in August. The vast majority of spare seats are no shows from season ticket holders who can’t be arsed or can’t attend for valid personal reasons.
Yes mate. £20 for juniorsDone cheaper than a home ticket for Villa by itself. Puts things into perspective.
That coach is cheap mate. Your supporters club?
Hence why tonight's protest is focusing more on match day prices. While a season ticket price freeze isn't too bad, a match day ticket price freeze is nowhere near good enough when you consider that the minimum price for 2 adults and 2 under-18s for tonight's game will set you back £228.
I am sure they hold some tickets back for corporate etc. I don't know the precise figure but even if is a few thousand it is still a small percentage of 52,000. But I am just as certain that in my block I in East Stand Upper a large number of season ticket-holders don't attend midweek games. That said I agree 100 per cent that charging matchday fans £71 a ticket is taking the piss. The obvious solution is to free up more season tickets but we also need to get season ticket holders to attend more matches. In the old days (1970s,80s) at Maine Road when most season tickets were in the Main Stand that stand was often half full. So this is not a new problem. The mythical August "sell outs" for all City home games.
It's a marketing fiction, that gets announced in the media.
It creates a fake narrative that Man City home tickets are really hard to get, and you need to buy hospitality or go to one of the ticketing "partners" and pay inflated prices.
They don't "sell out" in August, they hold back thousands for the "second drop" to enourage more membership sales, the club also siphon off large numbers to hospitality (they throw in a buffet for £250), and to their resellers and travel partners.
When those tickets are not shifting, the resellers and hospitality tickets all come back on to the planner, along with the unsold "second drop" AND the season ticket resales and Flexi Gold unsold. These last two categories are a small part of the problem.
Tickets for mid-week games, that will clearly have thousands of seats available (Forest, Leicester, Villa), are simply not available to buy from the club at face value, until a few week before the game, when the above factors all kick in, then we see thousands of seats.
I've been buying for years a matchday buyer, this August "sell out" for games other than Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal, is an absolute crock of BS, and it's the main contributing factor in what we're seeing with Villa tickets today (that and stupid prices of course).
Main issue is the bollox parking restrictionsThe main factor for me in deciding to go to night matches is:

The date has been up in the air and it's Easter school holidays so some have gone away is my only assumption. Now they have passed them to the club they wouldn't buy them back perhaps. Why are so many season ticket holders selling tickets for tonight?

Because the wankers moved the game a week and had already made plans. I am fucking furious because I don’t want to miss the game. Fixture dates and times should be fixed for the season and only moved if the weather or other act of god impacts the date. Why are so many season ticket holders selling tickets for tonight?
My excuse too. I’m in Tenerife! It could be worse I guess.Because the wankers moved the game a week and had already made plans. I am fucking furious because I don’t want to miss the game. I think a lot of seasoncard holders can't make this game, regardless of whether they are onside or offside. The sky-high match-day prices make it difficult to resell in the time available. One thing that is apparent, being in the champions league is not the be all and end all for City supporters, if someone offered the fans the chance of affordable football for all or champions league football i think most would opt for the former, the clubs biggest issue at the moment is getting the fans back on side asap
Same for me, I’m away also and always work my hols around not missing a game.Because the wankers moved the game a week and had already made plans.
