Seat Counters - 2024/25

Morning Blues;
Saw the City team arriving back from Southampton last night, they landed at the private lounge at Manchester Airport whilst I was waiting for my boss to fly in from Mallorca.
Anyway, some long faces, just had to say to a couple, bring that FA Cup home on Saturday.
The security detail, who are ex colleagues of mine, don’t allow photos etc, but they couldn’t stop me talking!

This morning’s first count;

118 - 28
119 - 136
L2 - 1570

Total left, without including those in 208 (2) and 114 (7 today) which still keep appearing and disappearing.
1734….

Level 2 prices are an utter disgrace.

The Club should buy them up and donate them to a charity, it would cost them about 400k.

The level 1s will not sell out on the criteria announced.
The people who have purchase history and memberships have been exhausted.
The club hasn't taken into account people who have had tickets bought for them when additional purchases have been allowed.
They are not seen in the City system as you could just send the email on yourself and the person added them to their phone.

I always suspect organisations monitor pages such as this for ideas - but looks as noone is doing so for Seat Counters
I don't agree that the criteria for members has been exhausted. There will be a significant number of match going members who have never been to an FA cup game and they will be much more likely to buy an expensive ticket than the members that currently qualify.

A significant number who have not been to an FA Cup match in the last three years?
I find that hard to believe.

But in any case - if you allowed all members and ST holders to buy additional tickets, they would be covered.
Are you saying we should have ANOTHER tier and then the additionals?

When do you want this process the end? -The tickets have to be sent out.

It's an historic competition which was once seen as the biggest achievement in domestic football. Crowds were far better than for league games generally.

As a kid the FA Cup final seemed so special to me. Long build up, memories from previous finals, even team songs!

Its been fucked by the growth of the PL in terms of revenue and European competition as well. Teams would much rather survive in the prem or qualify for Europe than win the cup, which is bollocks when you think about the whole point of football.

The FA have to rinse every penny out of it, and they'd rather fewer people spending more than a full stadium. No different to our owners with our home pricing.

It was fucked from the year they gave united permission to give it a miss thus devaluing it for everyone else (united were holders at the time)

There will be loads of touristy type members who wouldn't be seen dead at an early round FA cup game. These are the type of fans that will be willing to pay £250+ for a ticket. The process should have ended on Friday afternoon by opening it up to all members.

it will be a 5 figure number based on the total number of members, but whether they are in a position to go or not is another thing, and maybe 10% would, a 4 figure number.

City didn’t set the price's ,they are tasked with trying to sell them, what they should have done is refused to accept them in the original allocation.
I know City doesn't set the pricing, but you're right that they should have refused to accept it. What I mean is that they sent a message to supporters groups on Friday morning, suggesting that they expected it to sell out by 2 p.m. that day. I think most of us were sceptical of that claim, and as it turned out, we were nowhere near selling those level 2 tickets.

Same for fans, and they are refusing the more expensive seats. If City refused to take an FA cup allocation there would be a riot from fans, so it was never going to happen.

It is a high demand match so fans don't protest agaisnt prices.

I'm not sure they should refuse them, but I think all clubs should highlight their outrage at the price of them. I think it'd be a good statement if both ends don't sell L2 out. FA trying to milk people for their one off day and our fanbase has been milked dry.

Don't mean to be disrespectful to the opposition, but Palace aren't exactly a mouth-watering opponent either. If this was Utd for a 3rd season in a row they'd have sold out regardless of the price. A combination of that, idiotic criteria from the ticket office, pricing in general and a number of those so called supporters that just piggyback on success- a lot of those seem to have fucked off this season.

That’s 3 tickets sold in the last 12 hours.

Absolute clown show. If they changed Monday’s criteria to “all members” and pushed it hard on social media they might have a chance to sell those expensive seats next week.
It’s a joke. I honestly don’t know why the new criteria couldn’t have kicked in yesterday morning. Why does it always have to be a case of waiting the whole weekend before it changes on the Monday morning? And why only announce one new set of criteria for tomorrow? Even if they’re expecting it to sell out once the 10am window opens, there’s no harm in announcing another one in advance in case tickets remain.

City didn’t have to refuse them. They should take them but allocate them to the players/staff/directors as their part of the allocation instead of expecting regular fans to cough up for them.

When we played Villa in the 2020 League Cup Final I had a nosey at Villa’s ticket details on their website. From memory they didn’t even have any Level 2 ticket prices showing in their list of pricing categories, which suggested the club had set them aside for the players and their families, etc, rather than burdening their fans with them.
