Seat Counters 25/26

Maybe you are right but I think the Club would look to sales for the Chelsea and Exeter games as confirmation that demand is out there. They will also have some data to indicate that there is significant demand for more season cards / flexis.

Midweek games against lower profile teams won’t sell out, especially in an expanded ground. That isn’t the test / standard for expanding the ground. I agree demand for tickets has reduced for the lesser profile games and that’s been exacerbated by the industrial scale use of the Ticket Exchange.

Exactly. Plenty of examples where teams have not sold out their stadium but have expanded or moved to a new stadium and their attendances have skyrocketed. Spurs are one but look at West Ham. They went from 35k to 60k.

Sales for the Brighton home game are a bit shocking, in the returned Brighton SS3, in just 1 block there are 637 seats available, at £25 adult, £13 kids (after discount). So a family of 5 for less than £90.

I get it that these are just the Brighton returns, and there are 10 days to do, and it's just after Christmas and is midweek in mid-winter, but in the East stand L3 the same 5 tickets are on sale for £156, no chance of shifting those when SS3 isn't budging.
Demand feels really subdued this year, no doubt the cost of living surge isn't helpful, but there's a hell of a task for the ticket office next year with NS3 opening. They must be a little worried.
The stadium expansion decision might have been made in the afterglow of the treble, when there was a surge in demand. Personally I'd rather have a 50,000 seater rammed to capacity though tickets would be harder to get.
Next year will be Interesting.
Why put block 313 on sale when there are so many to sell all around the ground. Leave it empty it’s obvious away returns. Fill everything else. They (ticket office) eventually realised phased release for Brentford cup game was right strategy hence packed stands (except CB3). Wembley phase release so not new.

No one is buying the rest of the ground and it is mainly fans reselling.

The club want to sell as many of their tickets as they can, not wait for singles to be bought or not.

Exactly. I think it’s great the club put these cheaper seats out for sale. Just a shame they don’t appear to be selling very well. Midweek game doesn’t help (I’m struggling to make it myself!).

Exeter:

L0: 373
L1: 176
L3: 981
Total Left: 1,530

This will still sell out, however sales have taken a notable decline after being taken off general sale.

In other news, it sounds like the club will rightly be taking security for the galatasary game seriously.

A mate of mine wants to take his son to hospitality for that game as its his birthday, and it turns out you're not able to do it through the website for that game. You have to call the club up, where I assume they Vet you to make sure you're not an away fan.

This modern way of thinking that a ground should not have an empty seat for any game is ridiculous.

Social Media fueled nonsence.

The focus always used to be on how many people were there, not how many who aren't.

Nothing runs at full capacity every single week for ever, and that includes football matches.

We don't help ourselves with the ticketing policies though but another factor for me is the amount of bans we issue!

Was it 52 issued last year? Probably regular attenders who did something daft, doesn't warrant a long ban!

I can't recall any noteable mither last season from City fans, yet 52 get bans!

I wonder how many bans have been issued over the last 10 years, far too many I bet.

I think a lot of the empty seats panic is fuelled by blues who still suffer "reds under the bed" syndrome. They struggle to enjoy life as a City fan because they're worried what a rag fan from Kenya will say on Twitter if they see an empty blue seat or two on TV.

Away from that, you are correct in that City's ticketing policies aren't exactly helpful when it comes to both making it easy to buy tickets, but also attracting the next generation of City mad kids.

I do think it’s mainly to do with ticket prices and the clubs policy around ticketing and membership. It’s so difficult to buy a few tickets together.

In terms of empty seats, this season in particular we seem to be struggling to sell out. I’m looking around at league games and there are rows of empty seats around the ground - not every game.

It’s the most successful period we’ve ever had and we aren’t selling out - something doesn’t seem right there. Genuine fans/ the next generation should be in the ground

It's all nonsense on Twitter, mostly fueled by armchair fans who don't even go to games.

However the club should care about this, as they want it to look like theres demand for the product.

If tickets were priced below what people are willing to pay, the result would be excess demand. Games would sell out faster. People would talk about how hard it is to get tickets. Suddenly, attending a match feels like an achievement, not a casual decision. That “must-see” status is incredibly valuable.

Empty or easily available seats have the opposite effect.

Absolutely pointless the club adding additional criteria when in the same announcement they advise people to only buy tickets via the website or official partners.....none of whom have any criteria for buying a ticket!

As above, im pretty sure you can buy hospitality tickets from external ticket partners, without needing any identification at all

I could be wrong, but I think the grounds going to be full of gala fans

Very true, I've just gone onto Viagogo and it's got a list of all the City games you can buy hospitality for. Next to City vs Galatasaray it says "Hottest Event". I wonder why!

How many Blues are you taking to the game mate? Corporates is a law to itself but if Blues buy up the regulars seats then Gala won’t be everywhere.

I think it’s up to Blues to fill up the seats and prioritise the safety of our fellow fans. That includes the minority of Blues who just seem to be on the Champs League scheme to boost their ticket points

Credit to City and the fans groups (the latter have made stadium safety a priority).
City should have given them the whole of south stand upper, with tickets made available for uk based Galatasaray fans. This worked well years ago for poznan (albeit a different stand). This would go someway to satisfying the demand.

According to City, hospitality through third party sellers is subject to additional restrictions for the Galatasaray game. How strictly that’s policed is anyone’s guess.
