Seat Counters 25/26

I do remember when we played United years ago in the league cup. The game when tevez scored.

I paid £40 for a ticket in the east stand (lvl1) and tickets were like gold dust
I’m not sure they were like “gold dust” for that game. It sold out but took a good while if I remember correctly.

In other words. Unloyal in a once club nation.
To be fair, everyone was getting shit crowds in the late 80s/ early 90s. 15-17K was quite common place at Maine Road round about that time. Even in the early years of the Premier League, when football was beginning to pick up, we were only averaging mid 20s K most seasons.

the thing is with people criticizing our away support on social media, is if we had taken the full allocation we wouldn't be getting praise for it either would we?....same as when we took 9000 to Spurs, I didn't see us getting praise for that or when we took 36000 to the FA Cup semi final against Chelsea, but we did get shit for the lower attendance the following year against Forest....so my point is they only look for the negative and we can't win either way, so fuck em

I think there was some praise for the numbers we took to Spurs.

It's become a stick to beat City with and it's all armchair fans who don't watch any live football anyway. If you can be bothered to sift through, you can see matchgoing fans saying more logical things about how it's decent considering time of year etc.

It doesn't bother me at all. If we did sell out in huge numbers it would be because we are a plastic club with tourist fans. We can't win, same with the PL charges. Just ignore it.

City get great support home and away and have our own set of circumstances that dictate attendances. We're not the only team in the region like Leeds/Newcastle who have still had shit attendances over the years. We don't have flights from Ireland/Scandinavia packing out our ground for every game. We see with the FA Cup - a 3pm game priced right will sell out regardless of who we play.

I'd imagine these will start to shift quite quickly when people get paid later this month....
A lot of people are paid mid month and start of the month, and they only went on sale 8th Jan. The assumption a significant amount people are waiting to get paid to buy a football ticket is a fallacy, with the vast majority buying on credit cards.

People are more likely saving their money for the final.

City are 1/200 to qualify, Newcastle 12/1.

Not 15k ..have a look, regularly 20k - 22k which was in the top 10 in crowds during those years - even when we were in div 2 (championship now) we were in top 10 clubs gate wise https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/besucherzahlenentwicklung/verein/281 in 128 years we have only been below 16k once - an anomally 64/65 season - other than that - amazing attendences
