Seat Counters 25/26

I recall being at c£17k in the days of Mel Machin, a good few times anyway.
yep but the average well above that - so we should have had a good few 26 - 27k 's in the season if we had a few 17k's or a lot of 17k's! - I always remember the announcer saying today's attendence..22k ..sticks in my head during that era. Mind you that was with 'Swalesy's turnstile!'

Come on guys. Are we really fretting about social media "opinion" of our away support? Any honest match going fan in the country knows how good it is. Pep and the team know how good it is. Commentators and broadcasters know it (just dont acknowledge it). Up and down the country most home fans are in awe of it. Numbers, songbook, sense of humour and noise is second to none.

Much can be said about our home support but don't fall for the shit that armchair cunts come out with via a fucking keyboard.

the thing is with people criticizing our away support on social media, is if we had taken the full allocation we wouldn't be getting praise for it either would we?....same as when we took 9000 to Spurs, I didn't see us getting praise for that or when we took 36000 to the FA Cup semi final against Chelsea, but we did get shit for the lower attendance the following year against Forest....so my point is they only look for the negative and we can't win either way, so fuck em
Rags, dippers and bigger London clubs have a larger supply of irregular supporters to shift excess tickets to. It's that simple.
Add in the facts that we've probably played at the new Wembley more than any club except Spurs, late announcement of dates and kick-off times and the fact that most people don't have an inexhaustible supply of cash, and it's easy to see why we don't always sell out. - It's easy for fans of other clubs to say they'd be up for 20-odd visits to Wembley in 15 years but it would be a different matter once they had to start paying for those trips. - It's also easy for armchair supporters and the media to snipe as they don't have to worry about the cost and availability of tickets, travel and refreshments.

Not 15k ..have a look, regularly 20k - 22k which was in the top 10 in crowds during those years - even when we were in div 2 (championship now) we were in top 10 clubs gate wise https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/besucherzahlenentwicklung/verein/281 in 128 years we have only been below 16k once - an anomally 64/65 season - other than that - amazing attendences
I'm not for a minute slagging off City's crowds. My point was that comparing other clubs attendances in the 80s to crowds today, isn't really fair, as everybody's were 'shit' in comparison.

I also didn't mean to suggest that City ever averaged 15K. But there were plenty of indiviual league games in the 15-17K bracket in those days.

I remember crowds of around 22-24k in the 80s when we were in what was then the 2nd division. You used to be able to sit on the Kippax terrace and watch the game. I don't ever remember crowds of 15k-17k.

Its human nature, once the novelty of the Hill Dickensen wears off ,Everton wont be selling out every week. When we stuffed the Arse 3-0 a few years ago there were thousands of empties.Considering were the only club in the world consistenly reminded our neighbours are the biggest club in the world we do remarkably well.Im sure Athletico fans get as pissed off as we do.

Yeah I was part of the 15,172 attendance that witnessed a meaningless end of season victory over Reading in 87-88
We averaged 19,471 that season with the last few home games exaggerating the sense of anti climax

United suffered likewise the following season with 23,000 v Wimbledon and 26,000 v Everton (not that they'd ever admit it)

City averaged 23,500 in our 88-89 promotion season which was the 5th highest in England
If only social media had been around as we could have bored everyone shitless

United were highest at 36,468

Yeah there was definitely quite a few 17s and the odd 15 back in those days. Someone has mentioned one V Reading of 15 and there was a midweek game against Millwall that sticks in my mind as being 15. Won 4-0.

We got 16k v Oldham for a Sat 3pm game approx 85-88.
And they brought a few.

Hi anyone able to say how many Liverpool away left. I can buy form 1pm if any left but going to struggle to be bang on it at 1 as I normally would.

In my opinion most of the dickheads who go on about empty seats and not selling out away allocation for midweek games have probably never been to a fucking live game.
Nowadays there are so many reasons fans don't go to every game..you can see most games on fire stick for one..cost of transport is another ..ticket prices as well.
We do remarkably well with our support as many of our fans are long time attendees who have put in the hard yards especially when we were crap.
We get lots of new fans coming to cup games where tickets are easier to get.
I just laugh at pricks who mention empty seats and say I was there..what was the last game you watched live and I mean actually attended..shuts most of them up.
