Could be looking at some incredibly low crowds for Galatasaray and Newcastle.

I understand money doesn't grow on trees and that City have alienated a lot of people, but it's pretty piss poor for a pair of big games in the context of our season.
How many of the 50,000 who rocked up for the Leverkusen game only to find Pep gave the reserves a run out decided to kick midweek cup games into touch? Most fans travel for at least an hour if not more, that stunt probably did more damage than any defeat on the pitch could ever do.

The transport shambles certainly puts off a lot of neutrals

That statement contains a lot of assumptions.

If you are looking to associate deteriorating sales with transport shambles then you would have to demonstrate not that it is a shambles but that it has worsened.

I don't know if that was your aim. I jumped on it because I am interested in cities, transport etc.

I believe that City have taken their season ticket holder base for granted over the years and tried to squeeze it so as to increase higher revenue match day fans. City need to realise the importance of season ticket holders. Football is about traditions, habits and loyalty. Season tickets underpin that. City were always a club defined by its hard core support, the 'free the 30,000'. The club don't seem to think about this. Where is the season ticket waiting list? We have a new stand taking shape. In the past fans knew that they could put their 5 year old on the waiting list and then in 2-3 years they could be going to the ground with their family to the game.

I agree with a lot of what you say Marvin. We haven’t got a proper season card waiting list but we have many thousands of members with paid Memberships that are comparable to what several other clubs call a season card waiting list.i definitely think we’ve got enough / Blues families who will buy the extra 4k or so flexis / season cards that we’ve been promised.

We didn’t sell out the cup game vs United a few years back if I remember. Who cares what turns up i’m going and I hope we get to the final would rather a few empty seats to have people who are actually invested in the game. May all be flapping payday to come yet/ not been pushed for sales as far as I’m aware.

This didn't happen.

It's safe to say that you can double that figure.

Newcastle are paying £25. The most you will pay as a member in standard seats is £35. That's not double
Think he's talking about the £20 Newcastle charged for the first leg at SJP. That was for anywhere in the ground.

Absolutely no reason for the club not to match this.

The transport has worsened as the city itself and the stadium has expanded. It is a wider problem than just the trams. The Northern Rail network is one of the worst in Europe with multiple cancellations. Driving has become nigh on impossible for night games. The M60 is always choked and parking is diabolical. The ticketing shambles is the icing on the cake.

No, but to the casual supporter or day tripper as they are known, they will have to pay an extra £35 for a membership (per person) for the privilege of buying a ticket.

It did was before Covid or near it, they didn’t sell out OT and we definitely had empties vs them at the Etihad not loads but it didn’t sell eyes. Saw it with my own eyes. I have 0 reason to lie.
This game is almost gone from my memory (although I was there) but the only derby game at the Etihad I ever remember empty seats at was the Giovanni one under Sven.

Ok that's fine but we used to have to do this at Maine Rd with Citycard memberships and the like. They weren't free!

I realise I sound like a club shill here, but we have 40k season ticket holders and there's a whole bulk of those who are quite happy to miss Champions League and cup games.

Money will play a huge part in that but it is general apathy that has been apparent since the 1st time we got into the Champions League.

i think fans have given up when it comes to ticketing and pricing, you have to be Alan Turing to transfer one, be a member of mensa to actually buy one, and if you want to come as a family be rich. I would do anything at one point to get to the match, now i am finding ways to miss it, the club have totally killed my enthusiam and it's only habit that is taking me there, it will only take one email about having to relinquish my kids season ticket and they will have four back for eternity.
I buy my ST and join the cup schemes so I don't get involved in the complexities. Buying for away games hasn't changed over the past few years.
It's not ideal but the club don't make it easy for those without STs and those who transfer tickets.

Not had 40k season tickets for along time, lost loads after lockdown and. Never replaced them
