I think what I was trying to say is paying hundreds of pounds of tickets worth it for the prospect of a final ticket? It’s wasted money, especially when the tickets aren’t used. In previous seasons I’ve been able to pass them on free but that’s not an option anymore.
To be fair mate. It’s your free choice. People fall in and out if love with football at different stages of life. Work, money, family has to come first. I’m lucky now as I’m retired. Perhaps you’ll come back one day as well. City is a drug for me.

I go to most league home games and a few aways a season. I love going to watch City. Just saying it’s taken one season off the cup scheme to realise it’s a bit of a waste of money if you can’t make the games.

Just forgive me in the spring when I’m on this forum asking for a spare for Budapest!

Why do people buy tickets for games they’ve got no intention of going to. These points whores needed to be called out long ago.
Signing up for a cup scheme isn’t buying a ticket for a specific game. You don’t know the time or date, what your personal circumstances might be six months later or if any transport will be running. The idea that the club should be finding yet another way to punish loyal supporters strikes me as preposterous. It isn’t always about being a points whore

Used to go to all the Champions League matches but don't like the new format.

No jeopardy in the early matches and last night most people in the stadiums were just looking at their phones trying to figure what was going on. That is not a good matchday experience.

Also combination of ridiculous ticket prices and a poor atmosphere with increasing number of daytrippers is putting a lot of people off.

Club need to wake up.

It's the membership fee making a big difference.

Said on another thread, City fans are used to being able to get tickets pretty easily. We don't have this huge demand or waiting list just to get to a game the way other clubs do. People aren't going to pay a membership fee just for the opportunity to get a ticket, when they have been able to just buy a ticket without one for decades or been transferred one by a pal.

If that goes things will instantly improve.
Yeah, my recollection when they were brought them in was that you were paying to buy tickets in an earlier window than those who had a ‘free’ membership. All could buy, but you could buy sooner with the paid version - so if a game had high demand you had better choice of seats/chance of a ticket. Isn’t it still the case that those who have a membership without the £35 can still buy match tickets if there are any left after the paid members window?
If not, I’d suggest bringing that arrangement back would be a decent idea.

I think that is the case but I don't think they open it up quickly enough. They seem to try and create this false demand and get everyone on the hook to buy early at big prices. But I think, along with price, City fans are very much impacted by the time the game kicks off. We're not going to get the same attendances midweek as we would at 3pm on a Saturday unless it's a glamour tie, and even then!

I'm a very long term SC holder and have yet to decide if I'm going to renew next year (numerous reasons) but, if I don't I do hope to attend a couple of games here and there although. it'd be easier to do that being a paid member I'll not be chucking £35 at City just for the privilege, I'll just pick up odds and sods & if I can't I won't.

This might be a really unpopular opinion, but I think the club should be able to kick people off the cup scheme if their ticket is unused consistently.

Sick to death of people joining the scheme for the points and away/final tickets, but not bothering with home games.
That’s fine if we’re assuming people are doing that on purpose, for the points I suppose.

For me, I’m in cup scheme but because of work I can’t always they to night games and it’s often on the day that I have to make decision. The club in their infinite wisdom have stopped me from putting my ticket on the exchange on the day - meaning i either sell it beforehand or take the risk and hope I can make it. But fear not, I’m sacking the CL cup scheme off next season

I think this game will sell out, going off how many are currently shifting. After today, there are still 16 days of sales to go if you include the day of the match itself so we only need to average around 750 tickets sold per day from hereon in for it to sell out. It will be somewhat bizarre that an early round FA Cup tie against 4th tier opposition is going to hugely outsell an important CL group game and a League Cup semi-final against far more illustrious opposition

It just shows how much more appealing weekend and specifically Saturday 3pm kick offs are.

Definitely mate. Obviously, pricing comes into it too but the Salford prices - while cheaper than Galatasaray and Newcastle - are significantly higher than the previous round and it still looks like it'll sell out.

The number of match-day fans attending a game this season must be huge.

City must know this. Perhaps they think it's viable to fill the ground with this supporter base. IMO they should sell season tickets once more because relying on match-day fans leaves you vulnerable to downshifts in form.

Slightly off topic but a lot was made of the difference between the price in the 3rd round and the next one but it’s not really about the level of the opposing team. City have just decided in the last few seasons to heavily discount that first FA Cup game, I assume to try and grab people’s attention as everyone is distracted by Christmas and then start preparing to return to work/school whatever. Maybe the club just see it as a way to start the year with a cheap game. The 4th round prices are just normal really but it looks like a hike because of what they do in the 3rd round.

Mirrors my view too bud, fully agreed.

I agree 100% for the FA Cup as I know a few people on the cup scheme who don't bother with Salford and Exeter etc

However whilst a few might miss the odd game I don't think supporters join the CL Cup Scheme with no intention of attending

Last night was weird, but the other 3 home games all had around 50,000

Yes, remember that. Not sure how many seasons it lasted but I always used it. Re-introduction as a league phase bundle, sensibly priced sounds good to me.
Our three previous CL games attracted crowds of 50k,Napoli just short.Last night should have been similar given the jeopardy but the noise around crowd trouble and problems at the Swamp clearly put people off ( I considered sacking it for that very reason).
Its not a coincidence since parking and ticket transfer became issues our full houses of 23/24 seasons have dropped off and the ticketing policy issues.
Gonna need some serious marketing campaign to shift another 8k tickets.

Must confess it's almost impossible for me to get to evening games now, so any cup game at City that's on a weekend afternoon, we're there, irrespective of the opposition. Probably others like that too. We were there for Exeter and will be for Salford.
V frustrating that cannot be there for Newcastle next week or Galatasaray last night but it is what it is.
