This should be very concerning to the club.

On the block I sit there's around 18-20 of us who know each other and have sat there for years. For Madrid only 4 are bothering to go - I'd say that's probably quite common across the fanbase and ground too. Which is why the ground will be full of half/half scarves, day trippers and Madrid fanboys/girls on the night.

This is my last season in the CL scheme. The group stage especially is boring and way too expensive for what it is. I'm dropping out of it and will instead pick and choose which ones I attend.

Loads of Madrid tickets left. At least those who attend CL games got to get one.

When they first announced the criteria I was surprised that it stopped at just that second qualifying point. To only announce the two levels to buy tickets seemed odd, presumptuous, whatever.

I suppose at least they were ensuring those who’ve attended most got first dibs, but I’ve always wondered how they arrive at the criteria for each game in terms of how many previous matches you need to have attended over the last 2/3 years etc. I assume it is based on the club’s data on how many potential buyers fall into each category.

I left the scheme last year so I can just choose which games to go to plus move from my normal seat as it’s too touristy on a CL night. It’s much better.

Maybe go to members who attended one champions league this season. Stops Madrid boys who attended last year getting one in our end

I know what you’re saying, but on this game it’ll be close to sold out I’d have hoped nearer the time

One positive is some that locals that are half hearted might get the bug to become proper blues. Noticing more and more people who I presume have relocated to Manchester recently, pick up City as their club. Some southern lads who were early 20s on the tram next to me yesterday who have stayed up post university to work and were talking about how they’ve become City fans and go to games on occasion. Two of them had City shirts they’d bought.

Plus people from overseas who have relocated to Manchester, are seemingly choosing us. As long as these new fans adopt our humbleness, the more the merrier.

The negative is many previously “legacy fans” have knocked it on the head. We should be enjoying our best period ever but many have either lost interest due to us accomplishing literally everything or/and the pricing/ticket policy.

I just hope the culture of the club doesn’t change too much. Maybe they can get them back with cheaper tickets when the extension is open(?)

There can be no doubt that ticket sales have fallen off a cliff over the last 2 years.

If it doesn’t sell out we have problems, it’s the knockout stages of the Champions League against the biggest name in world football.

Ticket pricing could have been cheaper but we’ve never not sold out this fixture.

Agree with all of that. Seemed odd that there weren't additional bands ready to go. But not complaining that we got in a bit earlier. :-)

Or it could be a few hundred by game time (like last night), as fans who have been restricted from getting season cards / flexis get more opportunity to go to games on a regular basis.

Maybe for one game but then the casual fan realises what a ballache it is getting to/from and won't be as invested in City as some of us are.

We do have problems and they are all of the clubs making.

Some problems certainly are of the club's making, including excessive ticket transfer restrictions and bans on Blues, but some aren't. For example, I can see from my pre-game vantage point that the allegation that away fans get lighter searches than home fans is misinformation.
