Seat Counters 25/26

I actually think we're hitting a crisis point. The number of people who've said they're dropping out of the cup schemes, and the number of regulars that are turning away completely, is cause for deep concern. The club have overplayed their hand in difficult economic times. Once you piss people off, it's bloody hard to get them back. You look at the pricing structure and you have to wonder if the people working at the club are on the same planet as the rest of us.

You broaden it out and you see empty seats at other grounds too. The Championship today announced an expansion of the playoffs, it's just more, more, more. Club World Cups, 8 group CL games, UEFA Super Cup, Charity Shield, Wembley semi-finals, it's about how much can football squeeze out of the lemon.

Could the bubble be on the verge of bursting?

Been in the cup schemes since the start. Nothing's changed apart from we play a lot more cup ties. The ground hasn't moved, prices have stagnated and are cheaper for cup scheme members. Can't see any reason to drop out.

On the block I sit there's around 18-20 of us who know each other and have sat there for years. For Madrid only 4 are bothering to go - I'd say that's probably quite common across the fanbase and ground too. Which is why the ground will be full of half/half scarves, day trippers and Madrid fanboys/girls on the night.

This is my last season in the CL scheme. The group stage especially is boring and way too expensive for what it is. I'm dropping out of it and will instead pick and choose which ones I attend.

Same here. Last champions league for me too. I am in my 70s been going since 1967. Pissed off with the difficulty in travelling. Having to park a 20 minute walk away which is hard with my health problems. Get soaking wet most nights. TV for me now. Public transport is a joke, especially the trams. Wait till we get 60k there plus a concert. I bet no other club has such shit transport links. Stopping parking near the stadium when there are no houses and businesses there is ridiculous. It just seems like Burnham and his cronies don't give a shit as long as they can easily get to old toilet with its 4' yes FOUR team lines. Rant over.
 
With the new CL format which adds an extra home game (and could have been another if in playoffs) and on top of that some in the domestic cups…it feels there’s a lot of home games.

With all the obsession of empty seats it would be interesting to see what our total attendance is at the end of the season in comparison to others (especially if you add the Wembley trip and possible others). And also what the total cost would be for your average fan to have attended all if they are not a ST holder.

Tbf, there are loads of comments on here about infrastructure and transport changes over the last few years, which you haven’t mentioned at all.

It's just concerning to me that sales have been on such an obvious downward spiral, and yet the club seem to have no interest in doing anything

Yeah it was decent last night, the £25 single seats should absolutely become the norm now.

Not sure about the "we play Madrid every year" argument here, it's still a big game that people should be desperate to get to.

What worries me is this is another clear sign that the core fanbase is disengaged, yet the club seem to have no intention of trying to win these fans back.

The people at the club who makes these decisions wont give massive fat fuck about the future support. They care about maximising revenue in the short term to make themselves look amazing and when it goes belly up theyll just blag it that its for this or that reason

We had the chance to lock the next generation of local support in but instead flashed our cleavage at high paying tourists

Your idea of a crisis is strange. What is happening is that the demographic of our fanbase is changing as it is for the city of Manchester. A lot of older fans are attending less matches. This has always happened and always will. This forum only represents a tiny fraction of our fanbase. That said I agree there are too many games and tickets are too expensive.

This season is very likely to be the highest combined attendance in our entire history and we will beat it next season with the new stand.
