Not sure what the club has done wrong here. Unfortunately to accommodate the additional seats, at the bottom of the stand, the aisles will need to be widened to enable better egress.
It is unfortunate for those involved, and the amount of notice is an irritant, but I do not see what alternative the club has.
1) They could have told people affected BEFORE allowing them to renew and given them first crack at available seats. I can't believe they've just found out they need to vacate some seats.
2) It seems that they're not actually removing the seats if I understand it correctly as they're saying the seats may be available for some games.
3) It's not entirely clear why they're moving people. I have an aisle seat at the back of 109 and haven't had a letter so who are they moving and why?
Very shabby from the club and I really don't like the way
Soriano is running it and the way it's going. They aren't talking to the fans any more. Even under Mackintosh they used to engage with us.
It is concievable that the club has only just found this information out. From newspaper articles it appears planning permission was only granted on the 14th Feb. Building Regs drawings and specification would need to be submitted with the council or an AI, who are granted a two month consultation period, to check the structual design and consult, for a commercial development, with the fire service under the Regulatory Reform Order. It would be pointless to advise fans prior to this being approved. Im actually amazed things have been completed so quickly.
Of course this is all based on it being in relation to the new building work. Its all conjecture at the minute.
My thoughts exactly, PB.
The club has certainly changed tact over the last few years. It's hard to say when it started, but it does seem that the club no longer engages with the fans like it used to do, and instead is rail roadinging everything through without little thought for the fans.
Khaldoon promised us the club wouldn't change it that regard, and it would stay true to it's traditions, and would look after the fans, and would continue to engage with the fans.(remember Khaldoon's video?) Sadly that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
Whether that's Khaldoon's or Soriano's doing/fault is anyone's guess? I'm more inclined to point the finger at Soriano. The decisions are ultimately made at the top at City, regardless of the talented people below them. It now seems City are that focused and determined on getting to where they want the club to be, that they are ignoring what really matters, and that is the fans, and the way they are treated by the club. Because without the fans, there is no club.
Just a thought. Does anyone still remember the question and answer sessions with the club officials and players held at the stadium? Regardless if people thought it was a good idea or not, it made you feel part of the club, and it also gave you a chance to talk to the people running the club, as well as asking them and the players some questions.
City Voice. I joined hoping it would be a platform for the fans to engage with the club, and for the club to listen and to engage with the fans. In the end I gave up because it isn't like that. I and other fans did as the club asked. I/we put our ideas forward. There was never any reply or feedback from the club.
I appreciate there are 100's of ideas put forward by the fans, and I don't expect for one minute that the club can and would reply to every idea. However, there is absolutely no reason why the club can't give us a general update on those ideas the club are looking at, and are possibly taking forward.
It's a two way thing. The club ask the fans for ideas and to contribute to the running of the club via City Voice, but the club doesn't return the favour by keeping the fans updated on those ideas, even via a general overview at a later date.(once a month)
It's like. Thanks for your idea. The end.
