It hurts a lot because you are very attached to how your life is at present. In time, and in less time than you think, you will realise that all that happened was that your life changed and it was the change that threw you for a loop.

The only really guaranteed thing in life is change, so while you won't appreciate this sentiment necessarily right now, you will come to be glad that this change is not that bad/extreme. She's not banging anyone else, she's not cutting off your johnson and putting it in the blender, she is just saying we need to change.
