Sell Petrov immediately!

He's acting no different than Rosler did when Ball messed him about.

I hope the OP feels a right muppet...3 goals in 3 games.

He's ticked off...let him stay that way if we start him.

It has nothing to do with his qualities. It's about what tantrums he could throw. Do we really want him to cause havoc in the squad?

Friendly games is one thing though, competitive matches something else. There is plenty of cover for Robbie, with Bellamy and Weiss. Petrov leaving does give Weiss more playing time, that's just reality even if he plays more on the right. Weiss is brilliant and will stay calm throughout the season. He would not throw tantrums.

Petrov is vital as a pinch hitter but can and will be called on no doubt assuming he stay fit and healthy to play at pivotal moments throughout the season.

No one is guaranteed a starting spot , its based on form and who is available not past performances.

If you prove you are worthy of a start you start until form and someone else wanting the spot more through deed steps into the fray

noone want to talk about his celebration tonight then

turns rounds to the bench and signals to the name on the back of his shirt

not exactly what we want to see

Petrov is a player that will be key to us, especially in away games like the one we had today.

He's a frustrating player. One minute your ripping your hair out, the next he's a hero. Petrov is a funny player and a very good footballer. Petrov to stay!

Bridge to Petrov to Santa Cruz......GOAL!

DOH!!!!!

Does this stuff REALLY have to be explained?!

I like Martin Petrov and admire him a lot for what he is - a very skillful player who will always be able to score great goals. Old fashioned I may be but there is nothing more exciting than watching a winger taking on defenders, heading for the corner flag and sending in inch perfect passes. At other times, cutting in at the edge of the box and letting fly with an unstoppable shot.
Sadly for Petrov, no matter how well he plays he will always be only one poor display away from the boo boys on here calling for his blood and trying to tell all the rest of us how rubbish he is.
Try and accept him for what he is, an out and out winger who on his day, (and that seems to be frequently recently), is a great asset to us and one who will be sadly missed if people continue to try and hound him out of the club.
Alright, sometimes he may appear as a luxury in the team but that will always be the case with wingers, not every game suits having wide players. But when called upon Martin Petrov will deliver the goods.
Sorry if my opinion is not the same as most other folk on here, but that's what it was - just my opinion.

Erm........ what?

Sorry for using baseball parlance but loosely translated it means off the bench for a short sharp burst where your involvement means a desired result will occur more often than not.

ie setting up a goal or scoring one yourself.

Right. A bit like saying "Petrov is great to bring on in a game."

or even "impact sub"

I can't believe people are calling for Petrov to be sold. Last year Robbie was amazing in some games and went missing in others. This year, we can bring Petrov on as a "pinch hitter" or "impact sub" just like Bellamy, RSC, Weiss.
I love having that competition for places, that quality in depth...it's what all the best teams have. I think Petrov wants to start as he loves playing, just like Robbie and Ireland and Tevez.

Yes Petrov may not be the best influence in the dressing room, but thats upto Hughes to resolve that issue like our managers would if we started causing trouble in the workplace. If Petrov can't accept that he has to fight for his place, then yes by all means let him go. But once he see's where the club is heading, I'm sure he will love to be a part of it, even if its not a big a part as he would like.

That goal last night and his form in pre season are proof it would be complete madness to sell Petrov.

A season ago he was easily our best player and in the top 10 midfield players in the premier league.

Whats carried away there ?

I think that City should keep Petrov. He was your best player in his first season. Better than Elano IMO and he just struggled with injuries last season but he is still quality
