semi final draw

Get in!!!!!! Pay back time after 30 years of waiting...

We were robbed the last time we played this lot in the first leg of a League Cup semi-final at Maine Road 30 long fcuking years ago...

Clive Thomas being the ref, if my memory serves me right.

Not sure why people are disappointed at the second leg being at Anfield?

The first leg of any two-legged game is usually more cautious than the second leg is, when teams "go for the throat", hence it is more likely a clean sheet for the home side in the first leg and the advantage of winning on away goals on aggregate.

City will bide their time and ensure a clean sheet and a 1-0 win, for example, would leave us needing to go to Anfield knowing that one goal is enough even if we go 1-0 down and then 2-0 down.

I'm happy to be at the Etihad first. Play a strong team and keep a clean sheet.

This would be all well and good if away goals counted in the carling cup but they don't.

Thought they did count but only after extra time in the 2nd leg?

To f*cking true. I was there, Clemence flapped and Reeves put it in with a lovely header, on no according to Thomas, didn't even make them take the free kick from the right spot and of they went and scored at the other end. Out played them at dipperton and they know it. Well this time, they won't have had 8 days to prepare against our 4 bring it on.

Away goals on count in Europe as far as I am aware. FA Cup is replay first, then extra time and penalties (no away goals). Carling cup there are no away goal either. Unless they have discreetly changed the rules recently, I didn't know anything about this.

How can a player, brought in from another country, be cup-tied? Unless; in the improbable scenario of him having played for another club earlier in the competition, then having transferred abroad, then moved back to England again.

and if he'd played for the abroad team(fair to assume) he wouldn't be able to play for us anyway as you can't play for 3 clubs in 1 season?

True.

So to summarise, Any1aBLUE's entire statement was an ernormous pile of shit.

yes mate, and not exactly a first either!

if we are going to win this we need to play a lot better than we have done these past 2 weeks, get a 3 goal lead against them at home should do it hopefully
