For some reason, all aways games seem to stay at "PEND"... you've got all the points for them though.

Oh right cheers mate.

I really can't believe you stand by that last line... If that was the case, we'd end up with a priviledged few in the ground every week who can afford to pay £500k a ticket, no one else but these couple 100 would go, but it would mean a higher overall revenue and the people in attendence would se eit as a social statement, an exclusive club. That would be ok in your eyes too?

I'm sure that paragraph is meant to be tongue in cheek, you know that would never happen, but just in case its not, I'm not stupid enough to think had we drawn Blackburn the price would have been the same price, you know and I know it wouldn't. However it is about supply and demand whether or not we like it, and City have no obligation to keep saying "thank you" for our loyalty.

Also there are a lot of "extra" costs involved in this game, for one an extra 3000 rags at CoMS, will mean an awful lot more stewarding/policing (as will 9000 blues at OT), these things don't come cheap. Before you say well Arsenal and Forest brought 5000, well that's true, but the potential for serious disorder from fans of those clubs is considerably less.

GMP will have had some hand in the pricing of this game, not just City and United.

This is the going rate for semi-finals in any decent standard of competition.

How did you come to this conclusion? Blackburn are charging £15 for their match with Aston Villa - it is a game of equal importance.

I will not necessarily dispute that the club's ultimate prerogative is to fill the ground and thus maximise revenue. However, I do take exception to the club's assertions that cut ticket prices for matches in the UEFA Cup last season were solely to "reward your loyal support". These two ideas are contradictory. It is disingenuous to make fans that their support is being rewarded with cut ticket prices, only to rip them off when it matters most. The fact that this is the club's first semi-final in 29 years gives all the more reason to keep ticket prices low as a goodwill gesture for our years of loyalty. It would have been a great public relations statement on behalf of the club if they kept prices reasonable in spite of the fact that they could have theoretically charged more. As it is, whilst they may make money by filling the stadium for the semi-final, they stand to lose more money in future in having alienated a large number of loyal fans.

I understand what you are saying, and in many ways I agree, but comparing a City United semi-final with a Blackburn Villa one is plain silly, yes the ultimate goal for both games is the same, but for City, this is a potential bit of (recent) history, and for united (and more so its support) its another chance to have fun at City's expense. It is far more than just a semi-final, for both sets of supportters this is possibly bigger than a cup final.

Whatever way you look at it, (and like it or not) football is a business, and supply and demand dictates price, just as it did V Hamburg, and Arsenal, for those games City created the demand, with low prices, there was no need to do that for this game.

Years ago we were all being assaulted with the 'supporting our supporters' stuff, which went straight out of the window when we got back into the top flight.

£40 to watch City at home is a bit of a shock, but is it really a surprise?

To me it is, as it somehow flies in the face of all the cute messages coming out of the club. We love you fans, we are with you, we understand you, we want this to be a journey, together, holding hands.

I'm in a cynical mood about this, as it goes against the grain of all the verbal and written stuff we have been fed over the last 20 months or so.

I'll be going to the game, I'll cough up my £40, but I won't be so receptive to all the corporate shit I read in the programme about Etihad being the 'best airline in the world' or the meaningless tie up with some unheard of engineering company, the name of which totally escapes me, likewise that middle eastern telecoms company.

I suppose it's a case of 'here we go', and we will have to like it or lump it.

They can switch the lights out and put a picture of a bluemoon on a screen all they like, but to me, this a a kick in the teeth.

It's not like me to be negative, but this really has pissed me off.

Sorry, everyone, but at the moment those trips to York and Colchester don't mean a bloody thing.

I think cleavers made some very valid points, the cost of putting our fixture on both home and away will be far greater and complex than the other semi final.

Also, i do agree City is a business etc, yet, it doesn't change the fact that the club have fed us the same line for two years and suddenly they seem to have changed direction... it'll be interesting to see what happens to ticket prices for the derby game at the end of the season. Or any other "big" game.

Sadly felix times changed a long time ago, and City are just catching up.

Anyone who thought that our (not so) new owners were here just to please us, were sadly mistaken. They're here to make money, its what they're good at, and while they have on occasion told us how much our loyalty over the years means, they actually have no connection to that loyalty, they have only been here 18 months, and I shouldn't think they actually give a monkeys that we had 28,000 in division 2, why should they ? We were of course part of the attraction, but only part, their main reason for coming to City was the Premier League, and the money it generates, and we were available cheap. Cook for instance is a marketing man, and the clue is in the name, marketing is to generate income by selling the product, some games he needs to "sell" to fill the ground, some he doesn't, and this is one, sadly we'll all need to get used to it if we really want a succesful MCFC.

Its easy to be cynical about the price for this game, but prices like this have been around a while, especially for big games, I remember a rags against Arsenal semi-final a few years ago causing outrage because it was over £50, and its a few years ago now, in fact we've paid them away from home for years.

Personally I've been managing which games I attend away from home for a few years, I pick the games I'm likely to see the best football, then I look at the better stadia versus the cost, and finally how big the game is. Last year I spent a lot of money on europe away, this year I'm saving my spend, for what might be bigger an better games next year. I'm doing some away games, but not as many as I have done.

Arguing that these prices aren't excessive doesn't mean that I'm happy about them either, just realistic.

Me and mi mates are surprised at this price I was expecting about £30 at the most. This is the north of england not the fucking south its gonna be one expensive few weeks for tickets.

It was obvious that this game would be around this price. Despite what we all may want to believe our owners do want to make some money eventually. Also dont forget that the fact we have allowed the rags their full allocation (which they have also done with us) is going to mean every copper in the North West is going to have to work at that match, plus the added security costs etc. The price increase is needed just to cover the extra cost of that I would imagine. Certainly not in my lifetime (29 years) have we played this lot on a night match when there are 7000 of them at the ground, from a police/security point of view this is going to be a nightmare.

Everyone seems to be getting a little worked up, maybe you 'expect' the owners to lose out and not make a profit like they did with hamburg!?

The scum are charging just over £40 for the away leg so i dont see this as a problem cos i sure as hell wouldnt want them fuckers to come here and pay £15/£20 - not a chance!

I mean look at Wolves charging £38 to watch a team you know will be in the championship next season! compare that to our 1st Semi Final in years which is against our bitter rivals i think paynig £2 extra aint so bad!!
